Education with Temperature|Dong Mingyue, Counsellor of School of Computer Science: Adhering to the student-centred, "through-type" precise education system

The Voice of CCNU Since joining the school in 2021, she has always insisted on student-centred and "warm education", combining the advantages of her profession with the stage-specific characteristics of the students, implementing the systematic concept, laying out and implementing measures in sections, and constructing a "through-type" precise education system, in order to enable students to become a better version of themselves at all stages.



I. Ideological and political education through the whole process: Combine the stage and systematic organically, carry out ideological and political education in the whole process, and make active efforts at the key point and critical time of students' growth, so as to make a good combination of students' work.


1. Strengthen the foundation, and do a good job of freshman education series work.

Aiming at the stage characteristics of freshmen in college, we carry out a series of educational activities with the theme of "Aspire to grow up and become successful and be a glorious teacher", focusing on the education of ideals and beliefs, education of school history and school conditions, education of school discipline and rules, health and safety education, education of professional cognition, education of academic adaptation, and education of career development, and focusing on the cultivation of the "three kinds of consciousness and four kinds of consciousness" of students. "Three kinds of consciousness and four kinds of ability". Students were issued with "Growing through Sharpening and Endeavouring - The Story of "Computer People" in CCNU" and "Student Development Handbook (Undergraduate)" to help them understand the campus culture, plan their university life reasonably, and set up their lofty ideals.


2. Public defence to control the quality of college students joining the Party.

To implement the open defence system, the members of the defence team are composed of the deputy secretary of the college in charge of student work, the secretary of the party branch, counselors, class teachers, student party members and representatives of ordinary students, set up a defence question bank and randomly draw questions and answers on the spot, to explore new means of improving the development of student party members and ensure the quality of the development of student party members. So far, 34 students have participated in the defence and 11 students have been identified for development, and this method has been promoted among the students in the college.


3. Promoting learning by competition, focusing on excavating students' advanced models.

Combine ideological and political education with professional ability enhancement, adhere to the talent cultivation strategy of "promoting learning and creation by competition", actively encourage students to participate in various professional competitions at all levels, and cultivate and excavate advanced models among students. Her students won 3 awards in the 18th "Challenge Cup" National Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition for College Students, in which 12 students participated. Her students have won more than 100 awards at provincial and ministerial levels, such as the Gold Medal of the ICPC Student Programming Competition, the First Prize of the Blue Bridge Cup National Software and Information Technology Professionals Competition, the Gold Medal of Hubei Student Programming Competition, and the Silver Medal of "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.


II. Mental health education through daily life: not only to carry out mental health theme activities, and popularise mental health knowledge, but also through heart-to-heart talks, daily contacts, etc., to promote mental health education penetration of students' lives, taking into account the "obvious" and "hidden" mental health education.


1. Good mental health education and counseling are the first gate.

At grade level, we carry out more than 10 times of mental health activities, such as "pressure, let's take it together" and "roommates: these people who suddenly came into my life". Using group talk, individual talk, network talk, and other ways to combine students' common problems with individual problems, the current state and long-term planning, take the initiative to carry out one-on-one talk more than 300 times, real-time follow-up of students' psychological and ideological dynamics, and differentiated treatment, to put the first gate of mental health education.


2. do a good job in the daily education and management of students.

Adhere to the principle of leniency and strictness, and guard the bottom line of health and safety. Carry out multi-form checking, strengthen all kinds of education and management system publicity, so that students know the bottom line, discipline, no students appear disciplinary violations. Ensure 24-hour communication, to ensure that students have someone to ask in case of emergencies, there is a place to ask, and actually solve the confusion and problems for students. Use the holiday time to make home visits to five students, and send care, so that the student work more warm.


3. Helping key students to develop positive personality traits.

Starting from the "surface", through heart-to-heart talks, care, and concern, a comprehensive understanding of the actual situation of students, in the "point" to dig deep, and strive to help need to focus on psychological cases, academic difficulties students. Using the "three-step" approach of building bridges to prevent crisis, finding supportive forces to help self-regulation, and shaping positive traits to promote all-round development, we encourage students of key concern to take up positions as key student cadres and student assistants in their classes and grades or give them tasks and jobs that can be accomplished through their efforts, so that they can find their own self-worth, and in a quiet and subtle way, they will be able to find their own value in the world. This will enable students to find their self-worth, strengthen communication, and enhance their comprehensive quality in a subtle way.


III. Career education guidance for all. Adhering to the parenting concept of "everyone is an educator", we actively build a career education guidance system integrating parents, schools, peers, alumni, and employers.


1. Enhance communication between home and school, and practice collaborative parenting.

Establish a WeChat group for parents, communicate with parents, invite parents to participate in college activities, provide timely feedback on the development of the college, grade activities, and student dynamics, and guide parents to correctly view the growth pattern of students and face up to the problems and changes in students. Implementing the "Three Ones" (a letter home, a good news report, a report card), both good news and bad news, so that parents have a comprehensive understanding of the student's school situation, and promote home-school co-operation and co-education.


2. Bringing the power of peers into play to promote common progress

According to the deputy class teacher system of the college, students with good character and excellent overall performance are encouraged to serve as deputy class teachers of new students and play the role of peer leadership, and so far five students have been involved in their grades. Relying on the College's official WeChat public number, "Role Models" theme column, navigation students sharing sessions and other activities, with people around them, things around them to educate and inspire the students, with a true heart, true love to tell a good "computer people's story", to build the students in the hands-on participation and practice Awareness-raising, character-building, peer-to-peer new mechanism of parenting.


3. Mobilise multi-party participation to enhance the synergy of parenting.

Carry out a series of programmes such as "Face to Face with HR", "Face to Face with Alumni", "Face to Face with Study Abroad Service", "Face to Face with Professors" and so on. A series of thematic educational activities for career development, such as "My face to face with HR", "My face to face with alumni", "My face to face with professors", etc., help students to understand the current situation of the demand for talents by employers, learn the stories of outstanding alumni, and make clear the specific direction of professional learning. Solidly carry out the academic year (semester) summary class meeting, counselors, and class teachers to participate in the guidance, over the past two years has carried out a cumulative total of 34 semester summary activities, fully mobilized the power of multiple parties to form a synergy of parenting.


In the future, we will always adhere to the original intention of educating people, continue to improve the "through-type" precise educating system, actively explore new ideas, new ways, and new methods of student work, improve the level of educating people, learn from the depths, exert ourselves in the real place, keep the basis of teachers, and take the responsibility of education.
