From November 24th to 25th, the Pathfinder School for secretaries of the Party branch of graduate students, as well as the first phase of the sixth training course for secretaries of the Party branch of new graduate students, began. Four experts from different fields made special reports for over 80 trainees around teaching party affairs theory and improving their professional abilities.
Qiao Zhiqiang, Director of the Organization Department of Education Work Committee of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, made a counselling report titled “Deeply Learning and Understanding the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Leading High Quality Development with High Quality Party Building”. The report involved seven aspects: strategic positioning, conference theme, practical foundation, theoretical guidance and basic path, political safeguard, and work requirements. He emphasized that universities are important battlefields for learning, researching, and disseminating Marxism. Upholding party leadership over universities and strengthening party building in universities is the fundamental guarantee for running a socialist university with Chinese characteristics well. He encouraged secretaries of the the Party branch of graduate students to consciously shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation and play a pioneering and exemplary role in learning and practice.
Zhong Detao, a professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Marxism, made in-depth exchanges with students on the logical structure of the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the theoretical system of Chinese path to modernization, the historical logic and significance of comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, with the title of “Promoting the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation in an All-round Way with Chinese Path to Modernization——Learning and Implementing the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China”. Besides, Professor Zhong also answered the questions of the students on the site one by one.
Chen Shiyu, Associate Professor of Hubei Provincial Party School, taught trainees how to improve communication skills and abilities. Her profession counseling focused on the four key skills of communication, namely expression, listening, questioning, and feedback, and the three key steps of communication, namely providing positive emotional value, maintaining objective and open thinking, and clarifying the communication purpose.
Professor Xu Zengyang, Dean and Doctoral Supervisor of School of Public Administration, delivered a special report on “National Governance: The Responsibility of Young Party Members”. He first pointed out that the rejuvenation of a great country requires good governance and that the good governance requires strengthening the comprehensive leadership of the Party. He deeply analyzed the multiple pressures that China faces in the development process, and guided trainees to understand Chinese policies, and speak out for China. He encouraged trainees to “seek faith from the organization, knowledge from books, problems from practice, abilities from achievements, and support from the masses.”
During the training period, trainees also collectively watched the film Me and My Motherland, deeply experiencing the patriotism and fighting spirit of ordinary people. And their patriotism enthusiasm had been stimulated.
The Pathfinder School for secretaries of the Party branch of graduate students, as well as the sixth training course for secretaries of the Party branch of new graduate students, will focus on the hot topics of student party building work to conduct the second phase of learning. The second stage focuses on practical learning of party building work, striving to further provide precise and effective support for the upgrading of the thinking methods, abilities, and work style of graduate party branch secretaries.
