Wang Lu pointed out that counselors should accurately perceive the change, scientifically adapt to the change, and proactively seek the change in their employment guidance work. Regarding accurately perceiving change, Wang Lu pointed out that under the backdrop of a world undergoing profound changes unseen in a century and the digital economy transformation, current university students were facing challenges such as difficulty in job matching, skills alignment, and attitude shifts. As counselors, it is imperative to correctly understand the challenges and opportunities in the current university student employment landscape, actively guide students to adapt to new situations, enhance their overall qualities and strengthen their employability. In terms of scientifically adapting to change, Wang Lu specifically introduced the core concepts and application scenarios of the social learning theory of career decision making, the social cognitive career theory, the career construction theory and the career chaos theory. Combining practical difficulties faced by university students in their job search and some real-world cases, she detailed how to apply these career theories in university student employment guidance, providing counselors with a theoretical guide and a practical operational framework. In the aspect of proactively seeking change, Wang Lu emphasized that counselors should not simply act as knowledge transmitters, but rather as guides, inspirers, and supporters of students, achieving a new transformation from “giving a man a fish to teaching him how to fish, and then to inspiring his desire to fish.” She encouraged counselors to adopt a new era perspective on education and employment, enhance their ability to recognize change, enrich their strategies for adaptation, and strengthen their courage to embrace change. She called on them to open up new horizons for student employment with new perspectives and become companions on students’ career journeys.

The participating counselors discussed and shared their thoughts on specific issues in current employment guidance. They expressed their commitment to further integrating career theories into their daily work, using more scientific and systematic methods to help students plan their careers, improve the effectiveness of employment guidance, and contribute to the overall development of students and the university’s talent cultivation.
