I remember when I finished out my college application, some of my relatives blamed me just for choosing a non-profit-making major in their eyes——Chinese language and literature. At that time, I was silent. But now, I’m eager to say that what I have learned is both meaningful and powerful.
还记得当我填高考志愿时，一些亲戚因为我选择了中国语言文学专业而责备我，仅仅因为在他们眼中，这是一个收入少的专业。当时，我沉默勒，但现在，我想告诉他们我已触碰到了中国语言文学的魅力和力量。
The first story is about the romantic translation. It once induced much heated discussion that Qian Xuesen, a distinguished Chinese aerospace engineer, translated the term “Virtual Reality” into “Lingjing”, namely the dreamlike realm. The majority of netizens were surprised and touched, saying that it implied the cultural background of Qian and the aesthetic charm of Chinese language. Actually, Qian Xuesen believed that humanities could greatly expand one’s perception and it’s of great importance to express with the taste of China.
第一个故事与一则充满浪漫气息的翻译有关。中国杰出的航天工程师钱学森将 "虚拟现实 "翻译成 "灵境"，即梦幻般的境界，引发网民热议。大多数网民感到惊讶和感动，认为该翻译体现了钱学森先生的文化底蕴和汉语的美学魅力。其实，钱学森认为，人文学科可以大大拓展人的视野，会用中国的语言风格来表达是非常重要的。
The second story is about the poems on the underground. The activities of “Poetry on the Metro” originated from British Council in 1986. In 2006, at Charing Cross Station displayed a large number of Chinese poems, like “Blue, blue is the grass”, “Winter travels” and so on. The activities gained a lot of popularity among foreigners and, in China, it is also a trend that we increasingly enjoy the cross-cultural feast, hearing the voice of the world and letting our stories be heard.
第二个故事是关于地铁上的诗歌。“在地铁邂逅诗歌”这一活动起源于1986年，由英国文化协会发起。2006年，在查林十字车站，大量的中国诗歌被展示，如《青青河边草》、《冬之旅》等。这些活动受到了诸多外国人的欢迎，在中国也渐成趋势。我们越来越享受跨文化的盛宴，听到世界的声音，同时也让我们的故事被听到。
During the epidemic in 2020, it once hit headlines that there were some of the touching poems sent along with Chinese donations to epidemic-hit areas. I found that, though Kipling said:" East is east, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet", a century later, they have bound up with each other closely, with the beauty of humanity and the mutual sympathy during cross-cultural communication.
在2020年的疫情期间，中国的捐赠品与感人的诗词相伴被送到疫区的报道曾受到人们的关注。我发现，虽然吉卜林说："东方是东方，西方是西方，永远不会相见"，但在一个世纪之后，他们已经紧密地结合在一起，在跨文化交流中体现出人性之美和相互共情的大爱。
The traditional wisdom may be that the major merely focuses on literature. Actually, I have learned three kinds of courses on linguistics. It has been my most affectionate memory of my college life that the professor showed his great regrets on the establishment of modern linguistics, which wholly based on theories of western linguistics, losing our own tradition and characteristics. At that moment, l discovered my mission and calling: contribute to the construction of linguistics with China’s wisdom.
通常大家可能认为中国语言文学专业仅仅侧重于文学。其实，我还学习了三门关于语言学的课程。在我的大学生活中，令我印象最深刻的是，我们的教授对遗憾于我国现代语言学的建立中失去了我们自己的传统和特色，而在西方语言学的理论基础之上建立。那一刻，我发现了自己的使命和召唤：为葆有中国智慧的语言学做出一份贡献。
With indispensable Chinese language and literature, we can strive to facilitate the establishing of the Community with a Shared Future as well as express our views with the taste of China.
有了不可或缺的中国语言文学，我们得以共促建成一个命运共同体，得以用中国风、中国话讲好中国故事。
