Romantic Spring Day, Date with French Desserts!

March 27, 2020 Yao Jialing

It’s usually said that "happiness is the taste of dessert". Of course, who doesn't want to enjoy a sip of tea and a spoonful of delicate cupcakes on a sunny spring afternoon? Known for its romance, France is attracting the foodies around the world with its distinctive desserts. Today we are going to talk about those haunting French desserts.

Macaroon

The macaroon is arguably the most classic and famous "senator" dessert in France. In 1533, Catherine of the Medici married king Henry Ⅱ of France, bringing macaroons to the palace of Versailles, which soon became a delicacy in many regions of France. But the original version of macaroon was just a plain marzipan without any insides. It was until the appearance of Parisian dessert chef Ladurée that the modified version of the macaroon with cream fillings and jam was officially born.

For the most authentic macaroons, Pierre Hermé is definitely worth experiencing. Known as the Hermes of the macaroons as well as the Picasso of the dessert world, Pierre Hermé is a real classic that every dessert lover should never miss. Every March 20th is Pierre Hermé's Macaroon Day, where the PH store only sells macaroons. Additionally, the other fixed activity is that every customer can get three macaroons for free, so there is always a long queue in front of Pierre Hermé.

Crème brûlée

“The layer of black spots are marks of fire and sugar’s sweet love, which leaves an unforgettable memory on the tip of the tongue with just one bite. The texture of braised egg is floating between the virtual and the real, which is so romantic that the coarse oral cavity can’t retain it. Sliding through the throat, the sweet is full and round on one second, but quickly transforms into a thrill of pleasure the next second, just like the naughty children burst the red balloon in your throat.”

Anyone who has tasted crème brûlée will never forget its simple but wonderful taste. The amber-colored caramel on the top is the essence of the whole pudding, which breaks into small pieces with a clear sound when being tapped by a small silver spoon. The crispy caramel slices, paired with the creamy custard pudding, bring a fantastic tasting feast with the mixed fragrance and sweet of milk, eggs and caramel.

Madeleine

The Madeleine Shell Cake's popularity owes to Proust, who brings it great reputation with vivid descriptions in his novel Remembrance of Things Past. The spoonful of tea with the crumbs touched the roof of my mouthgiving me a sudden jolt. I noticed that some great changes happened to me, and a sense of relief passed through me. I felt otherworldly. ”Concentrating on the descriptions of the Madeleine Cake, Proust gained some special understandings of life through its taste and the memories it evoke.

Madeleine can be found everywhere in Paris. Carefully torn, the soft cake glows golden in the setting sun with a thick milk aroma. You can even see the hot steam swirling in the air if it’s fresh from the oven. A bite while it is hot can brighten up the whole day.

Mont-blanc

The Mont Blanc Chestnut Cake originated on the border of savoy, France, and Piedmont, Italy and took its name from the Mont Blanc in the Alps. The layer of icing sugar on top of the cake looks a lot like the eternal snow of Mont Blanc. Among them, he chestnut flavored Mont Blanc is the most classic, which is highly sought after by tourists worldwide.

The top layer of the cake is chestnut butter, the middle layer is cream, and the bottom is crunchy meringue. Open your mouth wide when eating, so that you can eat three layers at a time, thus better feeling the rich taste it brings. Mont Blanc Cakes are not quite complicated in French desserts, but they have very high requirements for the complex taste of various ingredients. Therefore, it’s only possible to taste them in very traditional and skilled dessert shops.

Dessert must exist for love and be born with a beautiful mission to deliver love. Dessert has magic to immerse us in a paradise full of warmth and romance with its delicate appearance and delicious taste. Romantic spring day, date with French dessert!
