According to the Voice of CCNU’s dispatch, on Sept. 30, the 2018 opening ceremony and the teacher-student meeting of Department of City and Environmental Science(hereinafter referred to as DCES) was held in Science Hall. Secretary of the Party Committee Liang Zhiqun, Deputy Party Secretary of the Party Committee Li Junling, Dean Luo Jing, Assistant Dean Huang Jianbin and some other leaders of DCES attended this meeting. And the meeting, chaired by Counsellor Lu Wen, was attended by all the students in DCES.
After everyone stood up and sang the National Anthem, Dean Luo Jing delivered a speech to the freshmen, in which he welcomed all students’ arrival and made a detailed introduction on DCES’s history. He divided the 62 years of DCES into Retrospecting, Inheriting, Developing, Fructifying and Harvest, which was referred to as the Marvelous 62 Years. In the end, Luo Jing looked forward and wished DCES could have a brighter future.
Then came the introduction of every teacher and all categories of majors’ situation by each department head. Department Head of Geographical Science Major Jie Yi, along with Department Head of Physical Geography and Resources and Environment Major Liu Pengcheng, Department Head of Tourism Management Feng Juan respectively introduced the situation, teachers and future prospect of each major.
On behalf of the senior students, Han Xun who is from Physical Geography and Resources Environment delivered an address, in which he gave some valuable directions on how to lead a wonderful college life. He pointed out that college is a place for learning rather than entertaining, which means students are supposed to put learning in the first place and take active part in voluntary work in spare time. Then, the Representative of Freshmen Li Ruihao made a commitment,“we will harbor a goal and make it glow; be independent to live and be brave to fight; learn to cherish and learn to be grateful. ”
Liang Zhiqun said in the closing remarks, “Osmanthus fragrans should’ve blossomed in August, and the reason why they are slow in coming is that they are waiting for you(the freshmen of 2018).”
It was no sooner than he finished the sentence that students burst into laughter, along with long lasting applause. Then Mr. Liang made a wish for the freshmen, “I hope that you will cultivate your sentiments, that when faced with external noises, you are able to deal with loneliness and tribulations, and be diligent to cultivate your morality and be strict to regulate yourselves.
