In order to strengthen the cooperative management of student financial aid, optimize the service quality and improve the effect of financial aid，Wu Jiancheng, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Department of the undergraduate school, led the team to carry out research in the school of economics and business administration, school of education, school of mathematics and statistics, school of chemistry and other colleges from April 18 to 22.This survey also aimed at better understanding the practical work of student financial aid, listening to the opinions and suggestions and exploring the development measures of student financial aid in our school. All members of the Student Financial Aid Center accompanied Wu to participate in the series of research activities.
On the symposium, each college introduced the proceeding situation of the student aid work. The School of Economics and Business Administration fully tapped social resources and set up a number of social scholarships to facilitate students' development. The School of Education adhered to the principle of "students first" and made effective progress in safeguarding the rights and interests of students from poor families. The School of Mathematics and Statistics strengthened management and especially paid attention to details. Teachers and students from the School of Chemistry widely participated in student financial work, striving to create the full-scale educational setup.
In terms of difficulties, the college had given feedback on practical issues related to the interests of the college and students, such as the allocation of student financial aid funds, the identification for students with financial difficulties, the evaluation and distribution of scholarships and student grant, and the grants of temporary hardship.
Wu Jiancheng listened carefully to the colleges’ suggestions, making detailed explanation regarding the policy question and providing targeted solutions to individualized problems. She also had in-depth interactions and exchanges with participants on some common and difficult issues. Finally, they reached a preliminary consensus.
During the discussion, she fully affirmed the achievements of various colleges in student aid work. It was believed that since the implementation of the two-level management system carried out, the college has given play to the characteristics based on its own reality to enlarge the quality and scale of financial aid. She pointed out that in the future, we should continue to put students at the first place and deepen the reform of student financial aid system. At the same time, we should also improve the quality and efficiency of student financial aid supply, maintain fairness and justice, and promote the progress and development of the school's central cause on the basis of summing up experience and focusing on the reasonable needs of students.
On the basis of this survey, the university will revise The Regulations on Awards and Grants for Ordinary Undergraduates this year, which is expected to achieve a new breakthrough in the top-level design of financial aid and scholarship. Subsequently, The Identification Method for Students with Financial Difficulties and The Work-study Management Method will be further revised and improved.
