On the afternoon of April 11, the first professors’ lunch meeting held by the Communist Youth League of Department of Sociology took place in the department office. The lunch meeting was mainly hosted by Dean Fu Ping.
The meeting lunch was themed with scientific research projects and was aimed to set a platform for the communication between teachers and students. It set a solid foundation in innovative thinking for students who have desire to participate in the Challenge Cup. At the beginning of the meeting, the representatives gave speeches concerning their topics and problems respectively and Dean Fu Ping gave his suggestions and comments to each of their speech.
After that, Dean Fu Ping systematically and thoroughly explained the process and details of the works in Challenge Cup. He said,”First and foremost, the topics are supposed to be related to people and society. Moreover, we should dig into those authentic and excellent articles and make our ideas feasible and creative. Last but not least, not only should we think highly of theory and thinking, but also we ought to focus on practicing and experiencing the social matters in person.” As for the qualities of marvelous and excellent theses, Dean Fu Ping hoped that students could bear three words in mind--“truthfulness, readability and creativity”. And he also stressed that only by sparing a huge amount of time and efforts can one make great works.
What’s more, Dean Fu Ping emphasized that exerting oneself in a scientific research project is a great way to improve one’s overall quality and that’s the reason why all of the students should take an active part in such activities. Students in Department of Sociology are not supposed to just pay attention to those matters around them, but should also open their eyes to the whole world and conduct researches related to the main problems of China. Moreover, students should do as President Xi told us--take missions of logging, writing and eulogizing the new era, and have the courage to face the tasks of epoch. Dean Fu Ping said that he had much confidence in students in Department of Sociology. Although the competition in Challenge Cup is more than fierce, he believed that students would have the courage to challenge themselves and challenge the challenges.
The lunch meeting turned out to be a huge success and served as an platform to answer students’ problems. It was believed that it would guide students in scientific research projects and make students bravely challenge the challenges
