On the evening of May 4, the theme activity on "Youth-oriented Party; Building a New Era of Achievement" of The 18-level School Of Urban And Environmental Science (hereinafter referred to as Cheng Huan College) was successfully held in Classroom 8410. This activity mainly included two parts: learning the speech of General Secretary Xi in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement and enjoying the spiritual practice education activities of the May 4th Movement by the seven League branches. The event was hosted by Lu Wen, the counselor of the 18-level.
First of all, Lu Wen organized the whole students to concentrate on the speech of General Secretary Xi at the Congress to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement. She explained the history and the connotation of the spirit of the May 4th Movement and the six demands put forward by General Secretary Xi on youth. She first reviewed the history of the May 4th Movement in the form of short video, and combed and explained the beginning and end of the May 4th Movement and its historical significance.
Then, by referring to the contents of the General Secretary Xi's speech, she further explained the connotation of the May 4th Spirit. She stressed that the core of the May 4th Spirit of "patriotism, progress, democracy and science" was patriotism.
She also led the students to learn the six specific requirements of the General Secretary for youth, and explained to them by two examples of national security education: "The current ideological struggle tends to be more covert and complicated. As college students in the new era, we should love our motherland, especially to be vigilant about the infiltration and provocation of foreign forces." She hoped that everyone would study the national laws and regulations carefully, shine their eyes and distinguish right from wrong.
Subsequently, representatives of the branch of the 1801-1807 League demonstrated the implementation of the May 4th spiritual practice education activities in April. Seven League branches, with the May 4th Spirit as their theme, went to the 1911 Revolution Memorial Hall, Mao Zedong Farmers' Workshop, Provincial Museum, Shi Yang Martyrs' Tomb, Yun Daiying Square and Science Hall to carry out practice education activities. Students revisited the history of the May 4th Movement and grasped the spirit of it by lecturing history, listening to League lessons, singing songs and expressing their feelings and reflections. Each group branch was also singing "I Love You, China" on the spot to express patriotism. After the exhibition, Lu Wen said, "Just like what you’ve sung in the League song, young students are the newborn suns, and we should embrace the era with the youth. As new youths in the new era, you should inherit the spirit of the May 4th vement, keep in mind the six requirements put forward by the General Secretary Xi, keep in mind your responsibilities, spare no effort to study hard, hold the baton well, run the relay well, and strive for the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation." In addition, Lu Wen also said that the grade encouraged all League branches to carry out their activities in the form of practice education, with the intention of internalizing the ideal and belief education through on-the-spot learning and understanding, and at the same time strengthening students’ communication within the League branches and enhancing the cohesion of each branch.
