On November 21, the 43rd Chrysanthemum Exhibition together with the 15th Chrysanthemum Pen Conference was held in Fountain Square of CCNU. The theme of this event was “Appreciating Chrysanthemum and painting to maintain deep nostalgia for revolutionary martyrs”, aiming to tribute to the centenary of the Communist Party of China as well as to show young Chinese’s mien and promote the art of Chinese calligraphy and painting.
With all kinds of chrysanthemums surrounding the fountain square and overflowing fragrance, they seemed compete for beauty and fascination, attracting many teachers and students to stop to watch. Several paintings and calligraphy works were exhibited on both sides of Guizhong Road. Some of the handwritings were formal and appreciative and some were unrestrained like floating clouds and water. Some paintings were of austerity and some were colorful and wonderful.
Tian Chenxu, the president of Nanhu Painting and Caliigraphy Association, said that the chrysanthemums exhibition and chrysanthemums pen conference in early winter on Guizi Moutain had become the exclusive memory of every Guizi Mountain resident. He extended a sincere invitation to all calligraphy lovers and the warmest welcomes to everyone to appreciate the glorious exhibition and write salutes together.
Closely related to our theme, student associations performed graceful dance accompanied by chrysanthemum. The melodious flute sound of the Seteria Ocarina Club spread all over the world in the song singing the motherland, full of enthusiasm and devotion. The Braille Sign Language Association expressed care in the song like you, full of warmth. The Yinfeng Yue Opera Club members were all expressive and performed in elegance in the song chasing fish and watching lights, full of an everlasting aftertaste.
At the opening ceremony, Xiao Bing, a senior member of the Nanhu Painting and Calligraphy Association, calmly picked up the pen and slowly wrote “Appreciating Chrysanthemum and painting to maintain deep nostalgia for revolutionary martyrs”. These powerful characters won praises from all the present audience. After its ending, the chrysanthemum pen conference officially began and the participants went to different boots to start their writings.
“Still waters run deep” “erudite and ambitious, ask and think” “It's not that chrysanthemum is preferred among flowers, but chrysanthemum blooms after all other kinds” … participants gave life and vigor to this thin rice paper by writing. Next to it, the table was covered with cards, with small characters and colorful illustrations on them. Everyone gathered in front of each booth, creating, communicating, and appreciating, with an air of pleasure and harmony.
This event was sponsored by the Committee of the Communist Youth League of CCNU, with the assistance of Nanhu Painting and Calligraphy Association, the School of Literature and the Guidance Center of Student Association.
