January 3, 2022 Chen Yujie

In order to guide the students to understand the current employment situation in advance, better carry out college students’ career development and planning, and further accumulate strength for the internship life in the graduation season, on the evening of December 19, 2021, the students of School of Fine Arts of grade 2019 elaborately held the graduation internship sharing meeting of “outstanding interns entering evening roll call”, at which three senior students from grade 2018 who had just completed the graduation internship were invited to share on the special topic.

Zhang Yangzi, a student from printmaking normal class of grade 2018, shared first, whose internship location is in Nanchang middle school, Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. She mainly made sharing in terms of “how to interview”. After finishing talking about the students’ internship process of senior arranged by the school, Zhang stressed that students should make sure to save their own works and prepare them into a collection of works with personal characteristics before graduation internship. She pointed out that copies of certificates obtained from competitions at ordinary times also need to be prepared, which should be bound together with resumes in volumes. There may be a requirement for lesson presentation during the interview, so before the interview, they should also prepare the contents of self-introduction, and familiarize themselves with the teaching materials in advance to make necessary preparations for the lecture.

The second person to share was Xie Chuojie, a student majoring in visual communicating designing of grade 2018, whose share was full of essence, focusing on introducing the preliminary preparations for the internship to the students. He said that before internship, they must have their desired work direction and target company. Resume and portfolio are also essential in internship preparation. At the same time, he stressed that students must figure out the time nodes and laws of enterprises recruiting interns. Generally speaking, the recruitment of interns is divided into autumn recruitment and spring recruitment. For example, the autumn recruitment in 2021 is aimed at the fresh graduates in 2022, namely students of grade 2018. The spring recruitment in 2022 is to supplementarily recruit the fresh graduates in 2022. At this time, students of grade 2019 can also participate in recruitment and start summer internship. Students who participate in internship at this time will have the opportunity to get an offer directly during the autumn recruitment. He pointed out that the earlier the batch of recruitment, the more posts there will be, so students of 2019 should prepare as early as possible.

So how in the world should the collection be prepared? Xie Chuojie's suggestion is “less and better”. He believed that there was no need to have a large number of works in the collection. Just select 3-5 works that best represent their current highest level. In addition, it is also a good way to understand the design style of the target company in advance and prepare a corresponding collection of works in advance.

In addition, Xie Chuojie also had some suggestions on the internship process, namely, face up to every job received; think and communicate actively and learning from work; seize free time and study independently; record their own output and feelings; reflect on themselves, find out omissions and fill vacancies; run a good relationship with colleagues. He pointed out that the biggest problem of interns is “don't know what they don't know”. Whether college students or interns, they should broaden their horizons and thinking, and think about what they want to do and what they need to do in advance.

Finally, Wang Ziyu, a student majoring in visual communicating designing of grade 2018, gave a lecture on experience of her internship life and application for study abroad. She pointed out that students who intend to study abroad can now take action and actively prepare. The most important thing is to improve their professional background, such as expanding their personal experience, participating in more professional projects or competitions, carrying out more scientific research training, publishing papers, and actively participating in exchange learning. Constantly improving their personal hard power is the key to successful application. At the same time, it is also important to highlight personal characteristics in the study abroad resume and relevant application materials. She also suggested that students who intend to study abroad can choose short-term internships and reasonably plan their school time.

This internship sharing meeting completed successful. Through the sharing of the three graduates, we found that for 2019 expectant graduates, the most important thing is to continue to improve their professional level and pay attention to the production of collection of works; at the same time, we should consciously and actively pay attention to the trend of the job market, think about what we should do and how we can do it, and work hard in the direction we want.

At the end of the sharing meeting, teacher Zhang Ai, the grade counselor, strengthened the impression of sharing of the three students by highlighting, emphasized the important current grade work one by one, and reminded the students to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control regulations, pay attention to the safety of electricity in the dormitory, correct their attitude and actively prepare for the final exam. Finally, she focused on anti-fraud publicity, pointed out several common fraud means, such as Bill swiping, online shopping, impersonating customer service, impersonating Public Prosecution and Law, online ticket buying and so on, and reminded students to keep their “money bag” at the end of the year and deepen the anti-fraud publicity into the daily management of the grade.
