The 13th China Social Work College Student Forum and the sixth Graduate Student Forum were successfully held online. A total of 15 students of our college have won prizes, including 2 first prizes (only 8 in China), 4 second prizes (only 12 in China) and 8 third prizes (only 27 in China). So far, our students have won the first prize for ten consecutive years, showing their high academic level.
China Social Work College Students Forum is a national academic seminar for college students majoring in social work sponsored by China Social Work Education Association and undertaken by domestic colleges and universities. It is the highest level of academic forum for students majoring in social work in China. At the same time, it is also recognized and awarded among 57 authoritative undergraduate discipline competition projects. In this forum, the students of our college made great achievements, which fully showed the elegant demeanor of our college students, reflected the core purpose of “fostering virtue and cultivating talents”of our school for many years, and great results of paying attention to undergraduate education as well as specialty building.
The major in social work of the School of Sociology of CCNU was selected as the national First-class undergraduate major in 2020,and ranked 10th in the soft science majors in 2021.
Our college has built 2 national excellent courses, 1 national excellent video open course, 1 ideological and political demonstration course of the Ministry of Education, 1 national first-class undergraduate course, 3 Hubei Provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 3 national open online courses (MOOC), and 1 provincial excellent resource sharing course.
Meanwhile, the college also provides abundant opportunities for students to practice their theories and methods in specific practical activities: the activities of contacting and visiting social work institutions or social work practice sites and participating in these places, social investigation practices, field investigation practices, and evaluation and research on the withdrawal of poverty-stricken counties at the national level; Hubei Province Social Work Practice Competition, College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Competition, National College Students Challenge Cup Competition, Chinese College Students Social Work Forum,”Internet＋”College students innovation and Entrepreneurship competition and so on. These practices and competitions have greatly enhanced students’ ability of field investigation and knowledge application, enriched their practical experience and broadened their field of vision.
For many years, the School of Sociology of CCNU has always attached great importance to undergraduate teaching, especially to the training and growth of undergraduate academic level, and to the promotion of talents trained by discipline competition. At present, there are corresponding academic competitions and forums for undergraduates to participate in sociology and social work, and the construction of national first-class undergraduate major has achieved initial results. In terms of sociology, the Social Survey Competition for College Students in Hubei Province, sponsored by the Society of Sociology of Hubei Province and organized by our college for a long time, has become a permanent competition of our college's sociology major.
In the future, we will continue to integrate disciplinary innovation with educational practice, and focus on cultivating innovative talents with ideals, abilities and responsibilities, promoting the further development of specialty building as well as steadily improving the quality of cultivated talents.
