In order to bind the relationship and communication between teachers and students’ families, schools and students’ families and bridge the gap between alumni, Qiu Baoguo, secretary of the School of Chemistry’s Party Committee, the dean Xiao Wenjing, Xu Fen, deputy secretary of the School of Chemistry’s Party Committee, Liu Zuming, director of the office, Ma Ying, secretary of the Youth League Committee, and Sun Yulin, part-time consellor, together with the two students, went to the students’ homes in Xinzhou District, and paid a visit to alumni in Xinzhou District.
Getting in touch with the students’ parents beforehand, the staff of the School of Chemistry stepped into their homes respectively with a warm and kind welcome. Secretary Qiu extended his care for this student’s living conditions in university and her family situation. Dean Xiao conducted education and career guidance with the students. In their conversation, a deep understanding of the growing environment and family atmosphere was achieved with detailed documents about families’ difficulty in living conditions. At the same time, teachers also praised the overall behavior of the students in the university — their strengths and weaknesses. They also exchanged with parents about potential problems in their thoughts, academic performance, and lives. In terms of career directions, which was also the most important issue for parents, they gave some advice targeting their families’ education.
The home visit is a direct method to learn a student’s home situation and growing environment, building up a great platform for the school to develop their work plans. After this home visit, all teachers presented that they would take more attention to students’ academic performance, growth, and psychological mindset, so as to help them make concrete career plans. all staff members of the School of Chemistry will continue home visits and effectively give a hand to those students who have difficulties in academic performance and family living conditions.
After that, they made a trip to Xinzhou No. 1 Middle School in Wuhan to call on alumni, such as the headmaster Li Kunpeng, with a warm welcome from the school. In the conference, teachers of the School of Chemistry summarized the recent development and achievements of the school in CCNU, leading to pride and hearty congratulations from these alumni. The headmaster Li shared his own thoughts and viewpoints towards the alumni work and admission publicity.
Secretary Qiu said that 2020 was the 20th year anniversary of the founding of the School of Chemistry and the school had a formal plan to establish an alumni association, expecting that every alumnus or alumna could come back to the school and attend this ceremony. Secretary Qiu and Dean Xiao also jointly issued the letter of appointment of "Alumni Liaison Ambassador of Huazhong Normal University School of Chemistry" to President Li Kunpeng and other alumni. Alumni all expressed their support for the alumni work of the college.
