At 9:00 a.m. on September 5, the opening ceremony of 2022 graduate students of the College of Chemistry was successfully held in the Science Hall. Qiu Baoguo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Chemistry, Xiao Wenjing, Dean, Chen Dejun and Xu Fen, Deputy Secretaries of the Party Committee, Feng Guoqiang and Yuan Hong, Deputy Dean, Li Xuehui, Secretary of Postgraduate Teaching, Hu Runfeng, Safety Officer, Gan Lin, part-time instructor of postgraduate students, and all 2022 graduate students of the College of Chemistry participated in the ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Xuchen, the postgraduate counselor of the College of Chemistry.
The opening ceremony officially started after ten minutes of anti-fraud promotional film. After all the teachers and students sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China in unison, president Xiao Wenjing made a speech on the stage. He warmly welcomed the arrival of the 2022 freshmen and hoped the students would establish lofty ideals and foster a strong sense of family and country at the graduate stage. He also hoped they would inherit the spirit of the college and cultivate excellent quality, always be grateful, and strive continuously. He wished students all to pursue their dreams bravely in the new stage of their life.
There is no insignificant things in the laboratory. The safety officer of the college, Hu Runfeng, gave a lecture on laboratory safety education of "the first lesson at the beginning of school" to all the freshmen. Mr. Hu explained to students the safety situation of university laboratories, the management system and rules and regulations of the college, the basic safety of laboratories, professional safety and so on from five aspects. Intuitive cases of laboratory safety accidents sounded the alarm for students. He hoped that students would attach importance to laboratory safety, establish safety awareness, and improve their ability to prevent and resolve risks.
In his concluding speech, Secretary Qiu Baoguo welcomed the arrival of 2022 freshmen and hoped that students would integrate their personal dreams into the Great Chinese Dream, improve their standing and broaden their horizons. He hoped that students would pay attention to laboratory safety, be in awe of safety and always on the alert. He also hoped that students could improve their scientific research ability, cultivate the spirit of scientific innovation, improve their communication and cooperation ability, participate in academic, cultural and sports activities in many ways, and achieve diversified development.
At the second stage of the meeting, Li Xuehui, the postgraduate teaching secretary, explained to the students in detail of the formulation of the training program, the postgraduate curriculum arrangement, the two-way selection of tutors, the selection of scholarships and other related works.
Subsequently, Zhang Xuchen, the postgraduate counselor, introduced the handling process of students' basic affairs in details, and carried out safety education for all postgraduate students in combination with various recent safety cases, with special emphasis on psychological health, fraud prevention and other personal and property safety precautions. All the new graduate students read the Proposal of the College of Chemistry on Prevention of Telecommunication Network Fraud on the spot and signed the anti-fraud receipt. Later, the college would organize laboratory security tests, fraud prevention tests and other related tests to further improve students' laboratory security awareness and ability to prevent online fraud.
At last, the postgraduate meeting of the College of Chemistry gave a lecture on recruitment, and representatives of various departments showed the new students the style of the department and looked forward to their participation. So far, the opening ceremony of 2022 graduate students at the College of Chemistry had been successfully completed.
