On October 25, 1938, Japanese invaders occupied the Daijia Mountain in Hankou. In the flames of war, Wuhan absolutely fell into enemy hands. Until the triumph of the War of Resistance against Japan in 1945, the people of Wuhan had been tormented and tortured by the aggressors for seven years. According to the Regulations of Wuhan Municipality on civil air defense, since August 1, 2004 the city’s civil air defense alarm should be tested on October 25 each year.
1938年10月25日，侵华日军占领了汉口岱家山，在轰轰炮火中，武汉沦陷了。直至1945年抗战胜利，武汉人民饱受侵略者蹂躏7年之久。根据《武汉市人民防空条例》规定，自2004年8月1日起，每年10月25日进行全市人民防空警报试鸣。
From 16:00 to 16:30 on October 25, the 2022 air defense alarm test in Wuhan was successfully held. In the short thirty minutes, three kinds of alarms, namely advance alarm, air raid alarm and disarm alarm, sounded successively. The city’s fixed alarms, vehicle-mounted alarms, mobile lift alarms, multimedia alarms and other kinds of air defense alarms sounded at the same time, which effectively examined the situation of equipping the alarm within the city. Furthermore, all the citizens were reminded to keep the disgrace history and national humiliation in mind. The three types of air defense alarm owned their unique meanings. When the advance alarm sounded, it meant that there would be important emergencies and we should make efforts to prepare for the air attack in advance. When the air raid alarm sounded, it represented that the enemy aircraft had approached the city and the air raid was about to start or had started. Measures like air defense evacuation and masking should be taken to protect people. When hearing the disarm alarm, we knew that the danger had been relieved and it was high time to deal with the disaster aftermath in accordance with the prearranged plan and to restore the normal production and life.
10月25日16时00分至16时30分，武汉市2022度防空警报试鸣成功举行。在短短30分钟内，依次鸣响起预先警报、空袭警报和解除警报三种警报声。全市固定警报器、车载警报器、移动升降警报器、多媒体警报器等多门类防空警报器同时鸣响，有效检验了全市防空警报器装备情况，也提醒广大市民牢记历史、勿忘国耻。三种警报都有其独特的意义。预先警报是告知人们可能有重大突发事故发生，告诫人们提前做好防空袭的各种准备；空袭警报是敌机已经临近城市上空，空袭行动即将或已经开始，告知人们采取疏散、掩蔽等防护措施；解除警报是告知人们灾害情况已经解除，可以按照预先计划清理灾害后果，同时可以恢复城市的正常生产和生活。
In recent years, Wuhan has made a further implementation of the idea of “Civil air defense is for people” and put forth effort to build a sensitive, reliable and all-round alarm system in order to truly improve the capability of surviving during the wartime. Civil air defense construction has been put into plans for national economic and social development. The civil air defense construction and communication alarm construction planning have been made abiding by the principle of adapting to the needs of modern warfare and the convenience of the masses. Meanwhile, the people’s air defense education had been incorporated into the school teaching plan by the educational departments at all levels. Wuhan had attached great importance to civil air defense. In the age of peace, we should also remember the history of humiliation and keep the safety consciousness of civil air defense.
近年来，武汉市深入贯彻“人民防空为人民”发展思想，着力构建灵敏、可靠、全方位的预警系统，切实提高战时生存能力。人民防空建设被纳入同级国民经济和社会发展计划，并按照适应现代战争需要和方便群众的原则来制定人民防空工程建设和通信警报建设规划。与此同时，各级教育部门也将人民防空教育纳入学校教学计划。武汉市极为重视人民防空，如今硝烟已经散去，但曾经的耻辱历史我们绝不能忘，人民防空的安全意识我们必不能丢。
