The Voice of CCNU On the afternoon of November 18, the 2022 Thematic Meeting on enrollment, employment and talent cultivation of School of Foreign languages was successfully held at Conference room 3402 in the building 3. Issues like the specialties layout, curriculum construction, quality of personnel training, enrollment and employment had been discussed in the symposium. The participants included all the members of leading group, all the directors and deputy directors, the representatives of the teaching staff, all the heads of the teaching and research section, members of the teaching committee, heads of all the disciplinary research orientation, all the class advisers and counselors. Combined with practical situation and their own work, the participants prepared in advance, spoke up enthusiastically, made brainstorming and built consensus in the meeting, which was chaired by the dean Luo Lianggong.
Luo Lianggong pointed out that the development of School of Foreign languages had entered into an essential stage and it was necessary to think about whether there should be adjustments on the specialties setup and objective of talent cultivation. Meanwhile, he called on that faculty members of the college should be deeply aware of the situation of professional development and take active action to lead students to change their ideas about employment.
Wang Jia talked about things that should be attached importance to in this stage, existing problems and personal reflections. He said that the School of Foreign languages had made substantial achievements in the discipline ranking and curriculum construction this year. He also emphasized that there was still the problem of inadequate mobilization, thus, more things need to be done in the future. He expected teachers to grasp the opportunity to make greater breakthrough in constructing the top-notch courses.
Wang Jiayu hoped that in terms of postgraduate cultivating teachers can give students more feedback as soon as possible. Especially for the tutorial group in charge of curriculum connection, they should strengthen the communication and diversify the examining mode.
Yang Linzhen, Chen Zhe, Deputy Secretaries of the Party Committee of the college, respectively reported the situation of 2022 newly-graduated undergraduate and postgraduate students, and the trend of employment of 2023 graduates. Yang Linzhen stressed that in order to know the exact situation of the employment of graduates, we must pool efforts to educate students through the major itself, the second classroom, the education management and the providing care. She also emphasized that we should highlight the characteristics and advantages of the major to make a good impact. Chen Zhe said that we should appropriately adjust the current training program and actively promote the normalization of the optimization of the training program. Meanwhile, we should boost the supervision and implementation of the whole process of the education of postgraduates, and pay attention to standardization and diversification.
Based on the initial employment rate and the year-end employment rate, the college had determined the list of the first batch of advanced collective awards for employment work in 2022. And in the conference, on behalf of the college, the dean Luo Lianggong awarded the medal to the department of Spanish for its 100% high-quality work of employment.
At the end of the seminar, Luo Lianggong concluded that both the training goal and content should be adjusted. It was necessary to further classify the talent cultivating to build more characteristic and targeted projects.
