In order to actively respond to the call of the National People's Congress and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference, implement the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating students in colleges and universities, deeply carry out the education of ethnic unity and progress in schools, improve the awareness of the Chinese ethnic community among teachers and students, and promote the construction of the Chinese ethnic community, on the morning of March 9, the Office of Student Affairs held an exchange meeting on the education of ethnic unity and progress in university. Wu Jiancheng, Deputy Director of the Office of Student Affairs, Li Chunyan, a professor stationed in Hubei Province from Xinjiang, all members of the Office of Ethnic Affairs, and contract person for ethnic unity and progress education of various training units participated in the exchange meeting, which was presided over by Meiheriguli, Director of the Office of Ethnic Affairs.
At the beginning of the meeting, Wu Jiancheng expressed her affirmation and gratitude to the educational work of national unity and progress of various training units. She emphasized that education of national unity and progress in colleges and universities is the basic work to build a sense of community of the Chinese nation, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The essence is to highlight the Chinese nation community. Daily education activities should proceed from the actual situation of students, accurately grasp the orientation of educating people, and deeply promote the educational work of national unity and progress, which is systematic, high-level, deep, warm, and effective.
Then, Meiheriguli introduced the progress of our university's national unity and progress education work in the past five years and the 2023 work plan. She proposed that on the basis of the school's work being awarded the "Model University of Ethnic Unity and Progress in Hubei Province" in 2021, the next step would be based on the requirements of the education of ethnic unity and progress in colleges and universities in the new era, based on reality, relying on professional advantages and ideological and political work experience, further enrich the connotation of national unity and progress education, innovate forms, and continuously enhance teachers and students' high recognition of the great motherland, the Chinese nation, Chinese culture, the Communist Party of China and socialism with Chinese characteristics.
At the meeting, the connotation person of national unity and progress education of each training unit exchanged work experience and work difficulties. The College of Chemistry, the School of Economic and Business Administration, the School of Mathematics and Statistics, and the School of Foreign Languages respectively shared their experiences on issues such as the development of the Red Pomegranate National Workshop, the training practice of preparatory students, students' academic difficulties, and promotion of excellence in joining the party.
Finally, Li Chunyan made a conclusion. She said that it is necessary to deeply grasp the internal requirements of the party's ethnic work in the new era, continue to strengthen the support of training units, promote the participation of all members, form a joint force for educating people, and make the school's ethnic unity and progress education work tangible and effective.
