On March 28th, the National Youth Student Reading Action was officially launched. Recently, “Implementation Plan for the National Youth Student Reading Action” was issued by Ministry of Education and other eight departments, formulating detailed plans from enriching students’ reading content, innovating reading action carriers and improving long-term reading mechanisms. The Reading and Education Studio “Yuelai Inn” of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences launched a series of 2023 reading activities to create a good reading atmosphere, including “love reading, co-reading”, “reading good books ,sharing good books”, “good at reading, reading sharing meeting”, charitable donation of books during the season of graduation, reading books and punching cards in the summer vacation, and keeping original intention through reading red classics.
On April 27th, the Yuelai Inn of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences held a “Yuelai” reading and sharing session. Xiang Sanjiu, the Secretary of the General Party Branch of the former School of Tourism ( College of Urban and Environmental Sciences) and the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Asset Management Company, was invited to have a discussion and exchange with students. Students appreciated their original intentions through reading and gained insights through communication and learning.
The book shared was Jin Yinan’s Misery and Glory, with Zhao Hong, a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Geography Science of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, serving as the sharer. Firstly, Zhao Hong introduced the main content of Misery and Glory according to the catalog. The book describes the great feat of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries to establish the red regime and lead the Red Army strategically transfer under the international background of the Soviet Socialist Revolution, the Communist International activities and the rise of Japanese militarism. Next, Zhao Hong shared her reading insights and emotively presented the magnificent picture of the Red Army’s Long March. The students present were moved by the tenacious will and heroic posture of the Red Army, and exchanged their reading experiences in succession.
During the discussion and exchange session, Xiang Sanjiu sincerely answered relevantly and made suggestions to students’ questions. Huang Yaxin, a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Geography Science, exchanged her ideas on how to maintain the original aspirations of Party members. Gu Wenjia, a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Geography Science, asked, as a government-funded normal university student, how to provide ideological and thematic education to students after entering the workplace. The atmosphere on site was active.
During the communication, Xiang Sanjiu shared valuable experiences in enhancing the value of life. He encouraged students to exercise actively and build a strong body; correctly view competition and be mentally prepared and learn to relax and adjust the mood; establish a correct worldview, outlook on life, values, view on honor and disgrace, view of gain and loss. He stressed that students should have solid professional knowledge and extensive cultural knowledge, and he reminded everyone to actively develop the ability of expressing, learning and thinking. Xiang Sanjiu said that students should develop hobbies like reading and exercising to enrich the life while loving the major. After the meeting, students expressed their willingness to live and study seriously according to Xiang Sanjiu’s suggestions.
Yuelai Inn of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences continues to promote the 2023 reading series activities of “Books inspiring youth, Reading lighting up life”. By regularly carrying out various types and forms of reading activities, young students are inspired to love reading, read good books and be good at reading. Let reading become the spiritual foundation of students and promote the construction of the “scholarly campus” project.
