It’s widely acknowledged that “higher, faster, and stronger” is what sports meetings usually use as their theme. However, it seems that “closer” should be added after the sports meeting of CCNU this year.
我们都知道，“更高，更快，更强”经常被用作运动会的主题。但是，经历了今年的运动会后，“更近”似乎也应该被加入这个主题。
What’s “closer”? It is a word that can be used to describe the distance between anything.
什么是“更近“？它是一个可以表示任何两个事物之间距离的词语。
To begin with, the sports meeting witnessed nature and human getting closer. Standing on the balcony of the stadium and overlooking the field, you would see students, teachers, some children and cartoon characters embellish the large grassland like colorful flowers. Some rested under the trees, some lay on the grassland to enjoy the warm sunshine, and some played outdoor games. Laughter and cheers filled the air. It seemed that even the sun was touched to be so happy that it stayed outside longer than ever before.
首先，运动会见证了自然和人类的渐渐亲近。站在体育馆的看台上鸟瞰整个运动场，你会看到学生，老师，一些小孩子和卡通人物像五颜六色的花一样点缀在绿色草坪上。一些在树下休息，一些躺在草坪上享受日光浴，还有一些玩着趣味游戏。笑声和欢呼声充斥了空气，似乎太阳都比往常愉悦了，每天都准时出席运动会现场。
In addition, people were getting closer. You could see students at the camp volunteer to raise the schools’ flag and take turns to run by the long runners’ side; You could see the lovers hug each other tightly when one of them had completed the game; You could see the cartoon characters acted by the students play with the children happily; You could see the journalists cooperate to work out a report.
另外，人们变得更亲近了。同院大本营的同学们争先举院旗陪跑运动员；完成比赛的恋人在终点紧紧相拥；学生们扮演的卡通玩偶和小朋友们有爱互动；记者精诚合作完成一篇报道。
Last but not the least, every student was getting closer to a better self. Players were trying to break their own records; Journalists were always finding unique details to show the public a more interesting and meaningful report; Volunteers have had a better understanding of “The roses in his hand, the flavor in mine”; And the schools were getting closer to be big families.
最后也是最重要的，每个学生都离更好的自己更近了。运动员们努力打破自己的记录；记者们悉心发掘独特细节，为受众展现更有趣而有意义的报道；志愿者们更深刻地理解了“赠人玫瑰，手有余香“；各个学院仿佛也变得越来越像个大家庭。
There is no doubt that through the sports meeting, the players could jump higher, run faster and be stronger. But what has been ignored for a long time is that we all discovered and got closer to something important but neglected at first, and that is exactly what makes sports meetings so unforgettable and meaningful.
毋庸置疑，通过运动会，运动员们可以跳得更高，跑得更快，变得更强壮。但很长时间里一直被忽略的是：我们也在发现和渐渐逼近一些很重要但一开始被轻视的东西了，而也正是这些东西让运动会变得难忘而有意义。
