A century ago, in July 1921, a brand-new party named China Communist Party was set up, which lighted up the hope in the darkness for these depressed souls. Today, in the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CCP, I chose several songs that are able to reflect its development.
一个世纪前，1921年7月，中国共产党成立了，为漫漫长夜中无数身处水深火热的灵魂点亮了希望的灯。今日，正值建党100周年之际，我为大家打来了几首极具代表性的歌曲，带我们回首百年，忆往昔峥嵘岁月。
1. Establishment: Osmanthus Flowers Blossom Everywhere in August
Being created in the 1930s in the central China, this song was actually adapted from a folk song of this region, whose original name was Celebrate the Founding of Worker-peasant Democratic Government. Though the composer of this song is unknown due to the long time, it still spread all around China with the footprints of CCP memberships.
1.建立：《八月桂花遍地开》
此曲创作于19世纪30年代，曲调改编自华中地区民歌，原名为《庆祝成立工农民主政府》。由于年代久远，其原作者已不可考，但这首歌曲却随着中国共产党员的脚步，走向了中国的大江南北。
2. Defense: The Yellow River Cantata
“The wind is roaring, the horses are shouting and the Yellow River is blustering, the Yellow River is blustering……” This lyric vividly indicates the situation of our defense of Yellow River during the Anti-Japanese War. In this gloomy period, the soldiers still possessed the determination to clean up the invaders like storm and surge, though they were experiencing such a hardship.
2.捍卫：《黄河大合唱》
“风在吼，马在叫，黄河在咆哮，黄河在咆哮……”这首歌的歌词声动地体现了在抗日战争中各族人民保卫黄河的景象。尽管身处黑暗，但我们的人民战士依然具有愤然决战，守卫家园的决心，就如同黄河两岸的暴风和和河中的波涛汹涌。
3. Victory: The East Is Red
Being finished in 1944, just before the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, this piece was also adapted from a folk song in the northern Shaanxi, which is one of the most representative artistic forms of this region. As this work absolutely conveys the appreciation of Mao Zhedong, it was selected as the background music of the founding ceremony of PRC in 1949.
3.胜利：《东方红》
本曲作于1944年，正值抗战胜利前夕，同样取自于颇具代表性的陕北民调。整首歌曲淋漓尽致地表达了人民群众对毛主席的敬佩瞻仰，同时这首歌也曾作为背景音乐出现在1949年的开国大典上。
4. The Reform and Opening-up: Story of Spring
Someday in 1992, the composer Jiang Kairu read a piece of news titled “The Wind from the East Brings the Sense of Spring”, which reported the rapid development of Shenzhen special economic zone under the reform and opening-up policy raised by Deng Xiaoping in 1978. An idea suddenly struck him and inspired him to complete the lyric of this work: “That was a spring in 1979, an old man painted a circle on the South China Sea……”
4. 改革开放：《春天的故事》
1992年，作曲家蒋开儒看到了一篇名为《东方风来满眼春》的长篇通讯，文中报道了深圳经济特区在改革开放政策下的飞速发展。他灵光一闪，便写下了这样一句歌词：“1979年，那是一个春天，有一个老人在中国的南海边，画了一个圈……”
5. Prosperity: Iron and Steel Torrent March
This song was first released in the military parade which aimed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC in 2019. With the march of the phalanxes of soldiers as well as these cutting-edge weapons, you would be demonstrated the progress, the struggle, simultaneously, the rejuvenation of our party and our country from the rhythm of this song.
5.富强：《钢铁洪流进行曲》
这首歌在2019年庆祝中华人民共和国成立70周年阅兵仪式上首次发出，配合着士兵和尖端武器方阵的行进，你仿佛能从它的节奏中，感受到中国共产党和这片土地多年来的挣扎，进步与复兴。
