On the evening of September 28th, the 11th “Learning Knowledge, Enjoying the Ocean” National Oceanic Knowledge Competition for the College and Middle School Students Final in CCNU was held in the lecture hall in the first floor of Building No. 9. Li Chenxi, Minister of Campus Culture Department of the Youth League Committee, Li Junling, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences (the School of UES), Zhang Hailin, Director of the Faculty of Physical Geography and Resources and Environment, and Song Fayi, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of the School of UES, were invited to attend it as judges.
Eight students, from the School of Public Administration, the School of History and Culture, and the School of UES, stood out in the preliminary contests and semi-finals to advance to the final. There were three parts in the final competition. The first part was a session that required players to answer a question within 60 seconds. The player needs to watch the big screen and give his answer quickly. In this session, Yan Jiayang in the grade 2017 and Xu Xiuyuan in the grade 2016 of the School of UES, who answered 10 questions and scored 200 points, ranked in the first two place.
After a short game, the second part “Preemption” began. In this session, players were divided into two groups, and each group had four people answering the same question with a total of 8 questions. The best two of each group went to the next part. Nong Jiaji, from grade 2017 of the School of UES, performed well. Her speed and accuracy of answering gained the audience applauding. After this part, she scored 260 points to be the highest one promoting to the topic speech.
In the third part, four students advanced on the stage. With her own growth experience in the beginning, Nongjiaji gave a speech as the topic “Blue Dream”. During the speech, she gave a brief Chinese ocean history with several important events. She said: “Chinese ocean did not lack in brilliance, but it was full of blood and tears, which was also humiliated.” Finally, she said: "No matter where you are or what kind of work you do, I hope you can go on your own way. Let’s help Chinese people realize the blue dream of a strong ocean." The applause sounded in the hall after the speech. Nong Jiaji won the first prize of the competition and successfully got the ticket for the national competition.
Li Junling fully appreciated the strength of the contestants in the comments, and also put forward their own expectations. She said: "This oceanic knowledge competition has brought us a wonderful knowledge feast. I hope everyone can "learn knowledge and enjoy the ocean", for the realization of our country's dream of glory."
