The 2nd special garden pageant "inclusive education in communities" was implemented in Hankou New City Park Community, on the Danshuichi Street in Wuhan.
The activity was organized by team "xinxinxiangrong", promoting community inclusive education from the Education Institute in CCNU, responding the appeal of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act actively and establishing the brand xinxinxiangrong. The principal of the institute tried to organize this kind of activities in many other communities in Wuhan flexibly and involved citizens in it to know and help special kids, hoping to promote the development of inclusive education.
Process Of Rough
It rained heavily at the beginning of the activity and that made it difficult to implement the outdoor garden pageant. After discussing, the team planned to negotiate with community staff ahead of schedule and decided to hold it indoors eventually.
On that day, team members guided volunteers to the specific location and decorated it carefully. As time approaching, kids didn't show up and volunteers started to worry. However, those team members didn't draw back at all, insisting on facing the empty gate with the best state. Finally, the first parent came slowly with her kid at 9:10 am. Then team members smiled at them and started their activities.
Unforgettable Moment
The activity consisted of six parts: "story of forest", "bakery in the forest", "amusement park in the forest", "painting studio in the forest", "little porter" and "fruit store in the forest". And it developed well when a kid paired up with another, driving small trains to advance in the game joyfully. Volunteers interacted with children energetically, attracting the interest of more kids. During the game, many of those special children played as the leader and all of them worked so well with their partners that they gent to the final station and gained their trophies quickly, which surprised team members most. Then a follow-up game called luobodun brought so much fun. At the end of the activity, a boy from another community with autism sang the song hobbyhorse city. And it was completed well by then.
Gains In The Activity
Linchen, the principal of the team xinxinxiangrong in the Education Institute said: "I never thought that so many kids would come to join in our activity in spite of the rain. Their smile and support gave me inexhaustible power and encouraged us to try to spread the idea of inclusive education to more communities. We expect that more children can be treated and get the community education resources equally. Let's create a harmonious atmosphere together in community for inclusive education!"
