Improving the work level of ethnic students in the new era by new theory, new method and new ability---The undergraduate college holds a research symposium on ethnic students' work

On March 20, the Ethnic Affairs Office of the undergraduate college (Student Affairs Department) held a research symposium on the work of ethnic students. Qin Hong, deputy secretary of the university party committee, Han Junhua, minister of the Student Affairs Department of the university party committee (concurrently served as vice president of the undergraduate college) and Wu Jiancheng , deputy director of the Student Affairs Department, attended the meeting. Xinjiang minority counselors, intramural Xinjiang management teachers, some college counselor representatives and preparatory class counselors also participated in the research panel.

 

 


The symposium was chaired by Wu Jiancheng, the vice minister of student affairs. Liu Feng, who’s from the Ethnic Affairs Office, centered minority students education management services and made detailed report on the topic of boosting the high-quality development of ethnic students' training by means of heart, emotion and force. Representatives of ethnic counselors from Xinjiang and some other ethnic colleges reported their situations on thought, work, study and life. Suggestions on further strengthening and improving education management services for minority students were also put forward.

 


Han Junhua, director of the Student Affairs Department of the party committee, put forward two expectations for ethnic counselors. First, we should combine strengthening ideological and political education for minority students with solving their practical difficulties. Second, we should strengthen the theoretical study of ethnic theory and ethnic policy, understanding every minority student attentively.

 

After listening to all the speeches, Qin Hong fully affirmed the achievements of the Ethnic Affairs Office of the college and raised three requirements about how to do a good job in the new era of ethnic students education management and service work. First, it’s necessary to set up a new concept of education management for ethnic students, carry out the basic task of strengthening moral education and implement “three inseparable” and “five identity” concepts in curriculum teaching. Second, we should innovate new ways of providing education management for ethnic students, actively develop an upgraded version of the “five-hlep working” method, and integrate ethnic minority students in the application of new media and technologies. Third, ethnic minority counselors should be encouraged to actively participate in all kinds of trainings, forums and competitions to improve their professional ability and level, thus giving full play to the exemplary role of ethnic minority counselors and driving ethnic minority students to develop good learning and living habits with their own practical actions.

 

After the meeting, ethnic minority counselors have said that they would strictly follow the requirements of the university and the undergraduate college (Student Work Department), take CCNU as their home, devote themselves to the education management of ethnic minority students, and become good instructors, waiters, administrators and coordinators of ethnic minority students.
