According to the Voice of CCNU,on March 22nd afternoon,under the lead of Bi Dongjiao(a student member from Youth Volunteers Association),nine student members, from the Youth League committee and student union in School of Psychology,went to the student dormitories in west side,regardless of the drizzle. They were holding a voluntary activity of recycling old clothes, named “Clothes Make People Warm”.
In this activity,the place for recycling was confined in student dormitory Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅵ in west side, and students from School of Psychology were regarded as focus people in this activity. Of course,students in other schools or other dormitories were welcomed to join this volunteer activity. Before it, volunteers gathered in newsstand in west side,and then Bi Dongjiao would illustrate the flow path and divisions of labor in detail. Volunteers were divided into four groups based on different genders,heading for respective dormitories and recycling old clothes layer by layer. These donated clothes would be sent back to newsstand intensively. After the recycling work was finished, these clothes would be classified simply. Finally,they would offer clothes to professionals and send to people in need.
After the division, volunteers headed for their respective buildings with distributed bags. They collected old clothes by knocking on doors one by one, and to this point,volunteer Huang Jinfeng said, “Although using this way makes us obviously tired,what contributes more value is that a maximum of old clothes will be gathered.” To our satisfaction,most of students had sorted their donated clothes before volunteers’ coming because of the outright publicity. So it saved a number of time because they merely put their old clothes into the bags.
During the activity, students were pretty cooperative,such as voluntarily putting old clothes into collective bags in order,helping some weedy volunteers carry bags downstairs and admiring and thanking volunteers’ patience and responsibility. Freshman Ma Xiaojuan donated a down jacket,and she said,”Frankly speaking,this activity is meaningful:I have lots of old clothes in my home and I’m confused about how to cope with them for a long time,and now I find donating them is as if I can kill two birds with one stone.” Besides students in School of Psychology , when students from other schools were asked whether them had some old clothes for donating,they rummaged through their suitcases for finding some unused clothes and shoes,even cups,bags and toys which were available. The enthusiasm of students was beyond volunteers’ expectation,so they gave these students heartfelt thanks and carried fulled bags towards the newsstand.
At 5pm, volunteers had already classified these collective clothes near newsstand, and finally they delivered them to another student member from Youth Volunteers Association. It was he who would correspond with professionals and recycle these clothes. So far,this activity was finished splendidly! Although the weather was cold and damp, volunteers were all working with their untiring energy. We believe that these clothes which filled with concern and solicitude can warm people in need.
