The Voice of CCNU The opening ceremony and military training mobilization meeting for freshmen of CCNU were held at the Outdoor Movie Theater at 8 am on Sept 2. Principal Zhao Lingyun and major Liu Tianhui, head of the military training corps as well as all the officers and soldiers of the Early Warning College of the Air Force attended the conference. All freshmen of 2019 and some teachers' representatives were also present. Vice-principal Xia Lixin presided over the ceremony.
At the beginning of the meeting, all the members stood up and sang the national anthem. After it, Principal Zhao Lingyun expressed warm welcome and gave a speech to the freshmen. He repeatedly stressed the key word “patriotism”. Starting from this essential requirement, Zhao stressed that the majority of young students should be “brave patriotic youth in the new era “, should have a clear patriotic stand and the ability to strengthen our country with both political integrity and talent.
Then, he put forward five hopes for freshmen: Firstly, stick to the original intention and cherish the past. Secondly, abide by the school rules and regulations and cherish the reputation of the school. Thirdly, respect the dignity of teachers and guard the mutual trust between teachers and students. Fourthly, stick to human ethics and be grateful. Fifthly, develop good study habits and set up a positive attitude towards life.
“Prevent AI from dissolving our intelligence, and prevent algorithms from crushing our thoughts.” What Zhao has said impressed everyone. At the same time, he also encouraged the students in the new era to be determined to serve the country through innovation, and make contributions to the Chinese dream, so as to realize the dream in the most beautiful time of “Mountain Guizi”.
After the Principal's speech, Cai Hongsheng, Vice-principal, read out The Decision of Awarding Excellent Exam-free Graduate Students in 2019. School leaders presented honorary certificates to the winners. In the middle part of the agenda, the teacher’s representative---professor Yu Yunwei, student representative---Li Jindu and the freshman representative--- Lin Jing spoke to the audiences respectively. Yu Yunwei encouraged the students to set up lofty life ideals, keep trying and making mistakes, and find their own way by combining the profound historical and cultural deposits in Hubei. Li jindu inspired the freshmen to take a good university road with his own experience. “Set up a target”, “add”, “take a load”--- three simple and humorous expressions conveyed a senior's sincere advice and hope to the freshmen. Lin jing, a freshman from Guilin, promised to forge her character with iron discipline and hone her will with soldier quality in the upcoming military training.
Finally, Peng Nansheng read out the Order on the Military Training of New Students and the Appointment of League Cadres in the Military Training. Principal Zhao Lingyun presented the flag to the military training group. With the continuous breeze sending the melodious school song to every corner of the campus, the opening ceremony of the freshman ended successfully.
