The Classroom Teaching Skills of Foreign Languages Institute Competition Was Successfully Held.

On the afternoon of October 9th, the Classroom Teaching Skills Competition of School Foreign Languages was successfully held in Classroom 3202 and 3204. The activity aimed at improving the teaching ability of normal students, and cultivating the advanced teaching ideas and solid teaching skills of normal students in our school. Yang Lingzhen, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of School of Foreign Languages, Qiu Ling, the secretary of the League Committee, Yu Bo and Xiang Zongping, teachers of the English department, attended the competition. The competition was presided over by Liao Yuying, a member of Department of Disciplines, and Cheng Zinuo, a member of the host team of the Ministry of Arts and Culture.



The competition was held at the same time in two venues. After Liao Yuying and Cheng Zinuo elaborated on the rules of the competition in the two competition areas, each competitor took turns to carry out a ten-minute simulation lecture and a three-minute elucidation of teaching ideas. During the simulation session, participants randomly selected topics from three topics and conducted simulated lectures on the topics of "Future Life", "First Aid Knowledge" and "New Media." With the help of board books, PowerPoints, videos and so on, the contestants made an introduction in the form of discussions and pictures to show the professional qualities and teaching styles of students in School of Foreign Languages. During the competition, the contestants showed their talents, which aroused constant applause. Among them, Yu Jieying, a junior student of English Department first made an introduction through computer pictures to compare the past, present and future. And then she combined the book article with real life perfectly, guiding students to find answers along with questions and to imagine the future life by combining it with the text, which reflected the all-round education of the subject for students in the new curriculum standards and brought a wonderful start for the competition.



Apart from the offline simulation teaching mode, the online simulation teaching mode has been added. With the help of Tencent conferences, participants connected with judges present and audience through networks to give lessons online. During the competition, although they may have difficulties in operating the software, under the field staff’s guidance and online voice guidance, these problems were successfully resolved. Finally, the online stage was perfectly completed. Chai Huayi, Discipline Department Officer said,“The new online model in this competition not only meets the needs of interns out of campus, but also caters to the needs of anti-epidemic prevention which advances with the times. And it can better encourage students to actively participate in the activities."

After the online and offline contestants' presentations have finished, Xiang ZongPing and Yubo gave a review of the contestants' performance and specific suggestions for each contestant. Fir Xiang ZongPing praised the enthusiasm of the contestant s, their self-confidence, and then made comments on teaching design, teaching methods and other aspects, pointing out the importance of understanding the spirit of the new curriculum standards. From the teaching details, Yu Bo appreciated the introduction of the contestant's classroom teaching and the way of teaching development, gave student-centered learning techniques, which provided an idea for the contestants to improve their core professional qualities.


After the review guidance, the competition ended with a photo of the judge leaders and contestants. In the end, Zhong Boqi, a junior student from English Department won the first prize, Chen Yuxuan, a junior student from English Department and Xia Shirui, a senior student from English Department won the second prize, Zhang Yulin, a senior student from English Department, Chen Yingzhu, a senior student from English Department and Feng Xiaoxiao, a junior student from English Department won the third prize. This competition provided a stage for normal students to show themselves, and provided an opportunity for normal students to improve their teaching skills. To improve the professional qualities of teachers, to train all-round teachers, the School of Foreign Languages has never stopped.
