On October, 15th, a lecture focusing on the Party history education was held in the Room N223, Nanhu campus of CCNU. The lecture was given by Lyu Huidong, deputy director of Key Research Institute of Humanities in Hubei Province of the Party’s Framework Building Research Center, deputy director of History Teaching and Researching Center of CCNU—including the Party, New China, the reform and opening-up, and socialist development, as well as the member of the lecture team of educating the Party History, as the keynote speaker. All 2021 grade undergraduates from the computer department attended the lecture, accompanied by Wang Kun, deputy secretary of the Party Committee in computer department, and Dong Mingyue, the counsellor of 2021 grade undergraduates from computer department, as well as this lecture host.
In the lecture, Lyu Huidong introduced the century history of the whole development of the Communist Party of China in meticulous details through four aspects —“the significance of learning the history of the Communist Party of China”, “understanding the theme, the main direction, and the essence of the development history of the Communist Party of China”, “three clues for history development of the Communist Party of China”, and finally “key points for passing the exam of a century development”.
“Why do we need to learn history?”, questioned by Lyu Huidong at the beginning of the lecture, as a foundation stage and warm-up to his following content. He said that the history of a nation and country was its collective memory, as well as its spiritual home. He quoted sayings from renowned historic figures, such as Confucius, Liang Qichao, and Mao Zedong, to argue and illustrate the point that history was important. Then, he cited Xi’s saying from The Mobilization Meeting for National Education of The Party History to exhort young comrades to set up a correct view of history and be unequivocal about countering the surge of historical nihilism.
Then, Lyu Huidong told undergraduates about the main thread, theme and essence of the history of the development of the Communist Party of China, listed the significant issues in its process and gave a summary. He said that from the founding of the Communist Party of China, we always made it our mission to contribute to national rejuvenation, and united and led Chinese people of all ethnic groups to keep working hard and persistence, fighting for realizing these two historic missions, as well as endeavoring in revolution, development and reform to achieve great success.
From Lyu Huidong’s perspective, the century history of the Communist Party of China had been of 3 phases —“New democratic revolution, socialist revolution, reform and opening-up and finally socialist modernization”. He aided the undergraduates to understand the meaning of gaining the great victory and the importance of achieving the tremendous transformation from standing up, to become prosperous and growing strong. Undergraduates were taught that history of the Communist Party of China was a self-building period, always trying to persist in enhancing and improving itself, maintaining and developing the advanced nature, to lead social revolution through self-targeted revolution, and to respond appropriately to the various risks and challenges to grow prosperous.
In the end, Lyu Huidong used “Nine must” from “July 1 speech”, telling audience the focus of the next century development. He led students to brush up two paragraphs of Xi’s words and sent them the words that Maintained hard-working, got rid of bad performance style and kept fine conduct. For forging a new world, we needed to learn what we hadn’t learnt yet.
The lecture ended up successfully after his appeal. I have a belief that all undergraduates audience could comprehensively understand what the Party meant and be more likely to take an active part in learning history of the Party. We should draw vigorous and mighty strength from embarking a new journey to lay the foundation ground for the new long march and century development.
