Experts and Scholars Offered Suggestions on the First-class Undergraduate Major Construction of Pedagogy in the New Era

On October 23, the seminar on the first-class undergraduate major construction of pedagogy was held in CCNU, combing online and offline ways. Nearly 200 people, including members of the Teaching Steering Committee, experts and scholars in relevant fields, attended this meeting, in order to jointly discuss problems and countermeasures of the first-class undergraduate major construction of pedagogy in the new era.


Zhao Lingyun, secretary of the party committee of CCNU, pointed out in his speech at the opening ceremony that, grasping the spirit of the times and the characteristics of professional development accurately, promoting the innovation of talent training mode with the times, and building the curriculum system and content system to adapt to and lead the educational reform better were all important issues for the first-class undergraduate major construction of pedagogy. Additionally, the seminar would bring together the wisdom and foresight of experts and scholars, accelerate the development of educational disciplines and push forward the educational modernization in China.


Xie Weihe, chairman of the Education Steering Committee and professor of Tsinghua University, delivered a video speech. He expressed that pedagogy played a supporting role in the practical development and theoretical construction of education disciplines and normal universities. Now pedagogy faced the challenge of further deepening reform. It remained to be thought how to better implement the party's education policies and improve the ability of "four services" of education discipline, how to respond to the new demands and expectations of society and the people for education from the system of pedagogy theory and education discipline, how to build pedagogy theory and expand its connotation and extension, forming the “road confidence” of socialist education reform and development with Chinese characteristics.


At the seminar, Professor Li Manli, secretary general of the Education Steering Committee, introduced and interpreted the evaluation of national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites in education in 2019 and 2020. Zhang Binxian, vice chairman of the Education Steering Committee and professor of Beijing Normal University, made a keynote report entitled “the Strategies and Policies for the Undergraduate Program Construction of Pedagogy”.


In the experience exchange stage, representatives from Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Central China Normal University, Northeast Normal University, Shaanxi Normal University, Nanjing Normal University and Guangxi Normal University shared the experience, characteristics and confusion in the undergraduate major construction of pedagogy at their universities. They spoke glowingly of their experience, such as the exploration of the combination of major and minor subjects, the integration of scientific research and teaching, the construction of elaborate courses with might and main. In order to present new approaches and expand new horizons for the promotion the undergraduate major connotation construction of pedagogy in the next stage, the experts also had a heated discussion on discipline construction issues such as profession orientation, normal professional certification, students' employment and so on, providing a lot of wisdom to the seminar.
