General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the ceremony commemorating the 110th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution, highlighting that we should take history as a mirror and create a better future, continue to shoulder the historic mission on the new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country, seize the historical initiative, and continuously push forward the historic cause of the great rejuvenation of China.
The ambitions of deeply understanding and realizing the great rejuvenation of China is the greatest dream of China since modern times. In the morning of October 22nd, relied on the class of Outline of Modern Chinese History, as well as under the guidance of instructor Yu Yifei and teaching assistant Yang Yongchao, freshmen of 2021 from College of Marxism went to the Museum of 1911 Revolution and the Memorial Hall of Wuchang Uprising of 1911 Revolution to carry out practical teaching activities.
At the beginning of the activity, the students first visited the Museum of the 1911 Revolution. Under the vivid description of the guide, the cultural relics on display in the exhibition case seemed to whisper the history of their own. In addition to displaying a large number of cultural relics and photos, the museum also reproduced the revolutionary historical painting of China in the early 20th century with the help of 3D projection, wax figures and other means.
Then the students came to visit the Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall of the 1911 Revolution. 110 years ago, the gunfire that overthrew the Qing government rang out here. Since then, the Revolution of 1911 swept down the decadent feudal dynasty like floods. Therefore, Honglou is also known as "the gate of the Republic of China". After the visit, all students took a photo in front of the Red Building, and the practical teaching activity successfully came to an end.
This activity powerfully promotes the combination of the class teaching and practical teaching concerning Outline of Modern Chinese History, which enables students to have a further understanding of Chinese modern history. When it comes to the feelings, Shi Haoran from Class 2101 expressed,”the objects of the museum and the memorial transport us back to that revolutionary times, and the history concerning Chinese endeavour and sacrifices for saving our nation from danger isn’t the words on the textbook any more. As a Chinese teenager at the new age, we ought to inspire ourselves by our predecessors’ revolutionary spirits, struggling for becoming a responsible person of new era.
