[Career Publicity Week] The Career Experience Day of " Experience the Career, Talk about the Future" Was Successfully Held

December 5, 2021

On the afternoon of November 21, the large-scale outdoor career experience day activity of Experience the Career, Talk about the Future " was held in Yun Daiying square. The activity was hosted by the Office of Student Affairs, jointly undertaken by School of Psychology and Research Center for Language and Language Education, and co-organized by the career development center, learning development center and career consulting room of "career path". As one of the series activities of the sixth career publicity week, this activity attracted many students to participate in it.

Yang Jun, deputy minister of the Office of Student Affairs, Lang Dongpeng, deputy director of the Office of Student Affairs and professional career consultant, Guo Jingxiao, Zhu Yun and Li Hong, came to the activity site to have a cordial exchange with the students and answer their questions on the spot.

The event was divided into four activity areas: "self-exploration", "outside exploration", "decision-making action" and "building the future". Participants would be given a stamp card at the starting point and would obtain a stamp after successfully completing the career game. When finishing the stamp collection, they could exchange for exquisite prizes.

At 13:00 p.m., the activity officially began. Students arrived at the activity site one after another. After understanding the activity rules, they entered each activity area for game experience and clock in. The "self-exploration" section was divided into three parts: first, students needed to complete the "MBTI professional personality test" to understand their own personality, abilities and values, so as to establish their awareness of career planning and learn to get along better with others; then, when they arrived at the "interest island", they could clearly understand their professional interest orientation; "Career crossroads" was based on the career decision social theory of Krumboltz, emphasizing the importance of personal factors, and helping participants aware of the impact of self-development on career development. "Self-exploration" was followed by "outside exploration". "Outside exploration" consisted of two exceedingly interesting games--"Professional Guess" and "Professional Planet". Through the two games, the students learned about relevant occupations and made in-depth thoughts on career choices.

In the "Decision-making Action" section, students learned to decompose grand goals into small goals, then further decompose them into daily actions and make preliminary choices about their future career direction. The “Building the Future” section first simulated the alumni reception, allowing participants to imagine their future career positioning and competence, and clarify how they should strive to reach the expected height in the future. Then the students colored the career rainbow card according to the beginning and ending ages corresponding to the different roles played in the personal development process, in order to make the participants realize that they should act as different roles in their life, and it was necessary to make corresponding career plans at different stages. Finally, they entered the "Future Through Train" game session, where participants communicated with career counselors on the results of previous participation activities and the counselors would give some professional advice. Through the communication, the students constructed the embryonic form of the future career, and also had more specific plans and prospects for the future.

The atmosphere at the event was warm and the exhibition boards were filled with students' career planning visions. The purpose of this activity was to strengthen the career education of college students, enhance their awareness of career planning, guide students to correctly recognize themselves, scientifically establish career goals and inspire students’ learning motivation. On the one hand, the activity helped the students to correctly understand themselves and find their own advantages to match their career needs; on the other hand, they used relaxing and funny games to experience the true face of each occupation, thus feeling the brilliance and hardship of each occupation and taking the initiative to plan their own life and create a better future.
