On the noon of November 26, 2021, the annual “distributing warmth in winter” activity and faculty luncheon hosted by Artificial Intelligence Education Department were held at lecture hall 7001 of the complex building, which locates in south lake campus. The associate dean of School of Educational Information Technology of the department, Professor Tong Mingwen, the associate professors of the Department of Educational Technology, Department of Digital Media Technology, Department of Science Education and Communications, Artificial Intelligence and the Major of Big Data, who were Luo Heng, Zhao Xiaoxiong, Pang Shiyan, Zhang Kun and Zhao Liang, the instructor of the freshmen, Chen Mengyu, the teacher who worked for Starlight Study and Development Center, Wang Shuang as well as 26 undergraduates coming from all majors participated in the activity. The Deputy Secretary of Communist Party of China of the Artificial Intelligence Education Department, Zhong Wenrui hosted the activity.
At the beginning, Zhong Wenrui began with a formal address. He welcomed teachers and students at the scene warmly. He mentioned that this activity would help students find right directions in the path of growth with suggestions shared by outstanding students. Moreover, by hosting the lunch meeting, teachers could know more about the students’ difficulties that they met in their daily life as well as their confusions in professional learning, which assisted teachers to guide and teach students better, in the meantime, helped the students to grow into their better selves.
In the first part of this event, Chen Tianjiao who obtained the National Encouragement Scholarship shared her own life and study experience. Firstly, she expressed her gratitude for the cultivation of the department, mentioning that tutorial system of graduate was of great importance for her to improve her research ability. As the department was getting stronger day by day, she encouraged the junior fellow students to adjust their states, set clear objectives, make good use of network resource to enhance their practical skills while learning their professional courses well.
During the time when teachers and students exchanged with each other, the students raised their concerns in school life while teachers settled their problems. Among the students present, Ji Gaoyang said she felt puzzled after went to college and she didn’t know how to deal with that. Mr. Zhao Liang listed the arrangements for courses and activities in different time periods of students who majored in Data Science and Big Data Technology to give references for students of this major to make plans for their future. When it came to answering the question about “how to overcome the loneliness in college life” raised by Bai Shengfa, the secretary Zhong Wenyue, Mrs. Pang Shiyan and Mr. Luo Heng offered practical advice from diverse perspectives to encourage the students to enrich themselves and their life.
After the communication came to an end, Zhong Wenyue made a summary of this activity. He motivated the students to turn to their instructors and headmasters when they were in trouble, in the meantime, embrace college life with optimistic attitude. At last, he conveyed his hope that all the students could realize their dreams while pursuing their ideals.
At last, the teachers present sent goods and materials which kept out the cold to the students. Then, they took group photos. So far, the annual activity called “distributing warmth in winter” and faculty luncheon were successfully hosted by the Artificial Intelligence Education Department.
This activity implemented the theme that “people who get fruits remember the trees, people who drink water remember where it is from”, which was designed to guide the students to learn good study methods and hardworking spirit of the recipients who got of the National Encouragement Scholarship. Meanwhile, the lunch meeting promoted communication between teachers and students, which was not only the concrete reflection of humanistic care from the Artificial Intelligence Education Department, but also a significant action to promote development of the department.
