To commemorate the "12.9th" student patriotic movement, the Committee of the Communist Youth League of CCNU successfully held the first "12.9th" Poetry Invitational Competition in Wuhan in 1984. With the gradual expansion of its influence, the competition was upgraded from a regional event in Wuhan to an event in Hubei Province, and the content of the competition was expanded to poetry and prose works. So far, the "12.9th" poetry and prose contest has been successfully held up to 37th. With their original works, young students enthusiastically eulogized the great achievements of socialist modernization and expressed their praise to the glorious history and great achievements of the Party in the past century. The contest has not only enlivened the atmosphere of campus literary creation, promoted the construction of campus spiritual civilization and campus culture development, but also became an important carrier for the construction of socialist college campus culture with Chinese characteristics in Hubei Province.
The event was sponsored by the Hubei Provincial Students' Federation and CCNU, organized by the Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Student Union of CCNU, and co-organized by the School of Chinese Language and Literature of CCNU.
