The Voice of CCNU On September 7, the registration of 2022 undergraduate freshmen arrived as scheduled. There were 23 training units of Guizi Mountain Campus and South Lake Campus of CCNU welcoming freshmen from all over the country at their welcome points. From 8 o’clock in the morning, freshmen entered the school batch by batch and went to the welcome points of their school to report for duty. Sweat that wetted the back was eclipsed by the enthusiasm of teachers and students in September and new faces added vigor to CCNU on the day of White Dew.
Each training unit made preparations in advance at the welcome points set along the road, guiding freshmen to report for duty and distribute materials. At the welcome point of the School of Computer Science, Zhuang Jiapeng, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the School of Computer Science, also welcomed the freshmen with volunteers. This was his second welcome after several years. Now the school opened under the environment of epidemic prevention and control, his feelings were different. He said that during the epidemic period, it was not easy for freshmen to come to school on time, and the school's work arrangements were very meticulous. At the same time, they also perpared many special projects for freshmen, such as the self-made freshmen development manual with the introduction of and their university and college to help them open a new chapter of CCNU.
“Happy birthday to you……” Happy songs were emitted from freshmen’s dormitory. The School of Economics and Business Administration celebrated their first birthday in the university for the students who had their birthdays on the first day of school. Additionally, Nie Yaohua, secretary of the Party committee of the School of Economics and Business Administration, led the team of the Party and government of the college and instructors to visit freshmen and volunteers. He learned that the volunteers of the school of this year were mainly 2021 students. One year ago, they first came to the campus as freshmen. Now, they acted as freshmen volunteers, he called it a kind of inheritance.
Although the freshmen entered the campus alone, they were not alone and were full of warmth and care. Tang Yeming, from the School of Economics and Business Administration, said that the care and help of freshmen volunteers, and the warm welcome of canteen and school staff, had dispelled his fear of being embarrassed and uneasy in a strange environment before entering the campus.
After putting baggage in order, like other freshmen, Liu Yiting, from the School of Public Management, walked into the canteen with expectations, intending to start her first lunch in CCNU. Variable food and automatic mode of food taking made her feel interested. Liu talked with smile that delicious food and tender staff of the canteen let her taste the flavor of her hometown. Additionally, she expressed that she expected to wander in the campus after a meal and encounter different new scenery of life in the forest of CCNU.
The 2022 new residents of Guizi Mountain also had a lot of expectations for reporting for duty today.
Chen Sitian, 2022 student from the School of Foreign Languages said,” before entering CCNU, I was really worried about my roommates, eating, and all kinds of situations. After entering the campus, I found it totally different. Volunteers would help me carry my luggage. Daily life is also very convenient and the dormitory is very comfortable! My roommates are pretty great! They are very easy-going! I don't need to worry at all!”
Zhao Zihao, 2022 student from the School of Journalism and Communication said,” maybe the three-month summer vacation made me expect my first day of school more or I want to meet new friends and learn new knowledge, which makes me especially excited today. As soon as I entered the school, my elder sister enthusiastically introduced relevant matters to me and led me to the dormitory. My roommates were also very friendly. We got along very well. After I reported for duty, the school prepared small gifts for me. Teachers and instructors came to the dormitory to visit us. The school canteen was better than imagined. Sitting alone on the playground at night and watching the moon rising, I looked forward to the story with CCNU tomorrow. But I seemed to miss my family and friends a little.”
Shi Yadan, 2022 student from the School of Education said,” on the whole, the campus has a unique academic atmosphere. Chen Zijie, 2021 volunteer from the School of Education said,” almost every 2022 freshman cried and hugged with their parents when saying goodbye to them. Although I didn't experience such a sad moment at that time, it still made me very sympathetic. When I reported for duty, I did not get my parents’ company, but I vividly experienced this kind of feeling as I served as a volunteer today. If my parents had come to see me off, I would have been as reluctant to part as they were. Brave and tough teenagers will eventually be confronted with new challenges independently.
