The Voice of CCNU On the afternoon of 23 September, the opening ceremony of College of Urban and Environment Science (CUES) for undergraduates of grade 2022 went smoothly.
The attendants of this event included the secretary of the party committee of CUES Liang Zhijun, dean Ao Rongjun, organizer Cao Huidong, associated dean Huang Jiangwu, Liu Muxing, Xie Shuangyu, cadres of the party committee such as deputy secretary Rao Yanping, department heads, headteachers of freshmen and instructors. An instructor for grade 2022 Lu Wen hosted this occasion.
At the begin of the meeting, all participants watched the video recording the military training of the freshmen together. Giving a speech for such a scene, Ao Rongjun introduced briefly the fundamental information of CUES which contained its history, teaching resources, talent cultivation and science researches. For the future of the development of the college, he conveyed his ardent expectation, from now on, he would push forward the high-quality progress and write a new chapter for it. Besides, he hoped that every student of CUES contribute themselves for the construction of their own school, to add a brilliant stroke for our lives.
Professor representative Huang Jianwu encouraged the students to take full advantage of the abundant resources of the university while making self-promotion in the campus of such a strong academic atmosphere. “We ought to maintain your vigor and vitality of youth, dare to attempt and face the challenges till we find our own pursuit. Then master our own learning method, study hard, set an ambitious goal and constantly strive for it. Simultaneously, we should cherish the time we pass in the college and persist in chasing our dreams.”
Behalf of the students, Yong Sumeng of grade 2020 and freshman Li Jichen gave their statement separately. Yong Sumeng initially delivered a warm welcome to the new students, then shared her study experience of these 2 years. She motivated us to develop self-learning ability, be open to try as well as manage to become all-rounded person; at the same time, possess kindness and eternal confidence. Li Jichen decided to endeavor with his schoolmates, while strengthening himself in hardships and advancing under the guide, then carry the spirit of CCNU, which comprises honesty, erudition, modesty and determination, meanwhile, accomplish his pursuit in CUES.
Finally, Liang Zhiqun summarized this activity, he anticipated that our students could reorient themselves, definite their targets for the next phrase, ready to explore in a unknown field, grasp new skills and acquire higher achievement in the university. Equipping with the quality of diligence, practicality and gumption, also the attitude of dedication, enthusiasm and creativity, we ought to become a talent with self-esteem, self-respect, self-improvement and independence for our country and party. He expected that we could meet the challenge with courage and fight while enriching our lives through learning and practice.
