In order to excel in graduate education, tap the inherent potential of graduate students, improve their self-help ability, and promote the good development of mental health, on the evening of December 15, 2023, the first group counseling session of the graduate training camp of "Heart Power · Harmonious Interpersonal Relationship" of the School of Life Sciences with the theme of "Create my Perfect impression | Communication skills in job interviews" was successfully held in the one-stop community of student dormitory No. 18. Yu Xuan, a counselor of the School of Life Sciences and host of the growth space of Heart Power, and Huang Ruonan, a part-time counselor of 2023 graduate students of the School of Life Sciences, attended the event. Xiao Ting, an expert of the CCNU base of the Ministry of Education's "Ambitious Aid Navigation Program" National college graduates' employability training, was specially invited as a teacher of the event. The activity was presided over by Huang Ruonan, a part-time counselor for 23 graduate students in the School of Life Sciences, and a total of more than 20 graduate students participated in the activity.
At the beginning of the activity, the students sat in a circle under the leadership of teacher Xiao, and made a statement from four aspects: "What is my name, where do I come from, what are the keywords of my personality, and what puzzles do I have to participate in this activity?" Through simple and fun games, everyone quickly closed the distance between each other, and also had a deeper understanding of how to create "interview personal memory points" in the introduction of each other.
Then, Ms. Xiao explained from the initial impression of the job seeker interview, including appropriate clothing, elegant posture, decent conversation and so on. In addition, Ms. Xiao said that in the interview, we should show generosity and confidence, show the degree of matching with the job and work enthusiasm in the interview. She stressed the need to find career coordinates according to our own characteristics, and guided the students how to effectively find employment orientation. Then, in view of everyone's job search confusion, Ms. Xiao explained to the students through her rich experience as an interviewer. In response to the problem of career happiness, Ms. Xiao mentioned that happiness was divided into five levels, among which the highest level is altruism. She taught students to find the value and sense of gain in career development with a positive attitude.
After that, Ms. Xiao guided the students to carry out a leaderless group interview simulation activity on the topic of "Do you want to be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond". The students expressed their opinions in the immersive experience discussion session, and conducted a collision of thinking through in-depth exchanges. In Ms. Xiao's review, she guided the students to understand that the core of the leaderless group discussion is the knowledge quality, the ability to resolve differences in the organization, and the style of dealing with people, so as to encourage them to continuously improve their interview skills and job hunting ability in actual practice.
Finally, teacher Huang Ruonan made a summary of the activity. First of all, she thanked Ms. Xiao for taking time out of her busy schedule to help students with communication skills in the interview, and wished everyone a smooth sailing in the future job search process and find a job that is the most satisfying to them.
The successful holding of this activity has thoroughly implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, focused on the development of students' quality and ability, guided students to establish a correct view of talent, career and employment through the form of team counseling. It improved the "core competitiveness" of graduate employment, and alleviated the pressure on graduate students to study and employment.
