In order to further enhance the leading role of peers and improve students' job-hunting abilities, the "Senior Students Face to Face - Job Hunting and Employment Special Activity" was held by the School of Computer Science on March 29 in Room N201 of Southern Lake Complex Building. This event invited 2020 undergraduates Guo Yu, Gong Na, and Liu Yule sharing their job hunting experiences, with participation from all 2021 students. The activity was hosted by Dong Mingyue, the undergraduate counselor for Class 2021.
Guo Yu focused on sharing technical job hunting experience. He summarized his skills and interview points in the job search process, stressed the importance of professional practice, and suggested that students with technical employment intentions seizethe opportunity as much as possible at this stage, actively strive for internship practice, and improve professional practical operation ability. In terms of resumes, he introduced the basic structure and optimization skills of the resume, emphasizing that they should be good at highlighting personal advantages, constantly adjust the content of the resume according to the needs of the job, establish the awareness of continuous learning, and dynamically improve the structure of professional knowledge structure.
Gong Na focused on skills learning, interview preparation, interview experience and other aspects, introduced her career thinking and job preparation. In terms of skills learning, she shared online courses, official accounts, blogs, CNCF and other learning channels, providing a quick way to improve professional skills before job hunting. She explained her preparation process for the job hunting in detail in two parts: resume and interview. Combined with the interview experience, she stressed the points to pay attention to during the interview process and offer selection.
Liu Yule started from the change process of personal career planning to help students sort out the future development direction and clear development goals. He systematically introduced the whole process of job hunting from the aspects of early resume delivery, project experience accumulation, interview preparation in advance and final information confirmation, reminding students to adjust their job hunting strategies and directions in a timely manner. He emphasized the writing and delivery of resumes to the students, and showed his resume layout on the spot, analyzing the components of the resume.
After the sharing, Dong Mingyue encouraged the students with job hunting intentions to look up to the excellent seniors, seize the opportunity, learn from the experience, and grow faster. The successful holding of the sharing meeting not only provided students with an opportunity to communicate with job seekers face to face, answered the problems that everyone may encounter in the job hunting and employment, but also pointed out the direction for students on the road to job hunting, and gave full play to the role of peer assistance, leading and demonstration. In the future, the School of Computer Science will continue to strengthen the guidance of students' career planning, through the forms of "face to face with senior students", "face to face with HR", professor lectures, and college leaders luncheon, to build a solid education for students, and provide strong support for their career and career development.
