In order to carry forward the excellent traditional culture of China, create a warm atmosphere of happy Chinese teachers and well-being of the Dragon Boat Festival, and actively play the role of educating people with hard work and food therapy, we helped students recall the customs of the Dragon Boat Festival and place good wishes on them by hand wrapping Zongzi and sewing wormwood sachets and other solar term activities. At 19:00 on June 6, the fifth special event of the Dragon Boat Festival "Together 'zongzi' means you" was successfully held in the party and league activity room of the one-stop student community service center (East 18). This event was led by Zhuo Mengyuan, a peer mentor from Heartbeat and a 2022 student from the School of Life Sciences. Yu Xuan, a counselor from the School of Life Sciences, attended as a guest. A total of 20 students from various colleges in the school registered to participate.
At the beginning of the activity, Zhuo Mengyuan introduced the theme with 24 solar terms and invited students to share the common types of Zongzi in his hometown. After the interaction, Zhuo Mengyuan played a video introducing the traditional customs of the Loong Boat Festival to help students further understand the origin of the Loong Boat Festival. Later, we entered the "Zongzi Wrapping" link, and various food materials and tools were carefully prepared at the activity site, including Zongye, glutinous rice, jujube, bean paste, taro paste, meat floss, etc. Students began to make their own small Zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival. During this period, students communicated with each other, helped each other, and laughed happily.
Next, the students entered the "Ai Cao Xiang Nang" section. Under the guidance of Zhuo Mengyuan, they first experienced different flowers, plants, and traditional Chinese medicinal materials through smelling, looking, and touching. They then selected flowers and plants that were pleasant and calming to match with Ai Cao and put them into the Xiang Nang. They then picked up needles and sewed them into the Ai Cao Xiang Nang. In the atmosphere filled with the aroma of rice dumplings and joy, everyone took a group photo with their own achievements, and said that they would share the Zongzi made by themselves with their family and friends. Thus, the event came to a successful conclusion.
The fifth Dragon Boat Festival special event of the "Heartbeat · Happiness Night School" at the one-stop student community service center (East 18), titled "Let's Make Zongzi with You", not only provides students with a practical and hands-on platform, enriches campus cultural life, but also further promotes the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation; Enhanced the friendship among classmates and brought joy and warmth through hands-on cooking.
