In order to thoroughly study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, to focus on the new situations and new requirements of ideological and political education in universities, to further strengthen the guidance of theory and practice research of the counselor team, to continuously improve the academic quality and theoretical level of the counselor team, and to effectively promote the improvement of the educational ability of the counselor teams, from July 20th to July 25th , the academic summer camp for counselors of Central China Normal University in 2024 (First Session) was successfully held at Central South University in Changsha, Hunan Province. The summer camp attracted 15 people from various colleges to actively participate, including the assistant party secretaries, full-time counselors, and political work backbones.
Li Diao, the deputy minister of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee and the director of the Ideological and Political Affairs Office, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a mobilization speech on the morning of July 20th. He emphasized that the purpose of the counselor academic summer camp was to create a favorable research environment and helped counselors (deputy secretary of the party committees, full-time counselors for undergraduate and graduate students) to focus on conducting academic research and successfully complete their respective related research tasks. He also put forward three requirements for the participants in the first counselor academic summer camp: firstly, abide by the camp rules strictly and pay attention to safety; secondly, set writing goals and complete the corresponding writing tasks; thirdly, concentrate and do well in academic research.
During the summer camp, according to the personal research plans formulated in advance, counselors focused on conducting academic research and completed research tasks, such as monographs, projects, papers and investigation reports on ideological and political education. In addition, interactive academic discussions were organized to encourage counselors to share practical experiences and research results in their work, stimulating ideological collisions and innovations.
After the activity, the counselors spoke highly of the summer camp and thought it was a rare opportunity for closed-door learning and improvement. This summer camp not only provided a favorable writing environment and communication platform for counselors but also benefited their personal career development so that it could lay a solid foundation for them to carry out student work in the future better.

The Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee will continue to promote activities such as counselor salons, "Face-to-Face Talks on the Front Line" for counselors and counselor academic summer camps to support the growth and development of counselors.
