At 10 am on October 25, the 30th "Counselor Salon" in 2024, sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs of the Party Committee of Central China Normal University and hosted by the School of Education and the "Seeking for Truth" Counselor Growth and Development Studio, was held in Tian Jiabing Conference Room 901. Vice Dean, professor, doctoral supervisor of the School of Education, the first famous teacher of ideological and political teaching of the Ministry of Education, and the "Guiyuan famous teacher" of Central China Normal University, Tian Youyi, shared his experience, entitled "The Soul of Learning: The Way to Improve the learning ability of college counselors in the New Era". More than 20 full-time and part-time counselors from various colleges participated in the salon activities. The salon was presided over by Wang Lu, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Education.
Wang Lu extended a warm welcome to the teachers and briefly introduced the theme and significance of the salon. She pointed out that under the background of the new era, university counselors, as the backbone of ideological and political education of university students, the improvement of their learning ability is of great significance to promote their own career development and enhance the effectiveness of education.
Focusing on the theme of "What core qualities should university counselors have in the new era", Tian Youyi quoted the research results of many scholars and elaborated the requirements of political literacy, moral literacy, theoretical literacy, management literacy, cooperation literacy, media literacy and other aspects. When talking about "learning for what", he quoted the ideas in the book Learning Revolution, pointing out that the world is going through a critical transition, and mastering the method of learning is equivalent to holding the golden key to the future. He deeply analyzed the connotation of learning ability, emphasized the importance of reading ability, reflection ability and research ability, and criticized the shallow reading phenomenon in the era of fast food, emphasizing the importance of enduring, thoughtful and inspiring book reading for cultivating critical thinking ability. In addition to sharing, he also encouraged the counselors to be brave enough to be alone, good at reflection, and to examine their work and growth from a theoretical perspective, a dialogue perspective and a critical perspective.
In the free exchange session, Tian Youyi exchanged and discussed the role transformation and career adaptation of new counselors, how to improve work efficiency in fragmented time, and how to balance self-improvement and export of university counselors. Everyone actively spoke, combined with their own experience to express the experience of the counselor's work, the scene atmosphere is active and warm.
The counselor salon not only provided a platform for the counselors to learn and communicate, but also pointed out the direction of efforts and action guidelines for improving learning ability. The counselors at the meeting have said that they will take this salon as an opportunity to strengthen learning, the courage to practice, and constantly improve their professional quality and education ability.
