On April 10, 2019, Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) published the first-ever image of a black hole. The black hole in the photo is named “Powehi” in Hawaiian, which means “dark source created by infinity”.
2019年4月10日，事件视界望远镜公布了人类捕获的首张黑洞照片。被拍摄的黑洞以夏威夷语命名为“Powehi”，意为“无限创造的黑暗源泉”。
The image of the black hole in the picture is an orange aureole, in and around which are black shadows. The picture became a hit the moment it was published. However, in order to get this picture, the scientists put in a huge effort. More than 200 scientists spent more than 10 years observing from around the world and two years developing to get the picture of the black hole today.
照片中的黑洞为一个橙色的光环，环内和周围都是黑色阴影。黑洞照片一经发布就引爆了社交网络。然而，为了获取这张照片，科学家们付出了巨大的努力。两百多名科学家历时十余年，从世界各地进行观测，并花费两年时间冲洗，才有了如今黑洞照片的问世。
A black hole is a celestial body (not a “hole” in general cognition) formed by the gravitational collapse of a fixed star of sufficient mass after the nuclear fusion fuel runs out. Before the publication of the picture, black holes only existed in the inference of general relativity theory. 200 years ago, scientists Michelle and Laplace once put forward the concept of black hole. In the following researches, more and more scientists believed that black holes did exist. Nevertheless, since no one had ever seen a black hole, there was no practical argument to prove the existence of black holes.
黑洞是由质量足够大的恒星在核聚变的燃料耗尽后，发生引力坍塌而形成的一种天体（并非是一般认知中的“洞”）。在首张黑洞照片公布之前，黑洞只是根据广义相对论所推理存在的星体。早在两百多年前，科学家米歇尔和拉普拉斯就曾提出黑洞的存在。在之后的研究中，科学家们认为黑洞确实存在。但由于一直以来都没有人看到过黑洞，黑洞的存在缺少实际的论证。
The publication of the image of black hole provides strong evidence for the existence of black holes, and Einstein’s conjecture one hundred years ago is tested correct. This is a giant leap for humankind in astrophysical research and it makes a considerable contribution to the development of astronomy.
此次黑洞照片的公布，为黑洞的存在提供了强而有力的证据，爱因斯坦的百年前的猜想也得到了检验。这是天体物理研究向前迈进的一大步，为天文学的发展做出了巨大的贡献。
