For me, a student who has stayed in her hometown for 18 years, regional diversity is always a mysterious and interesting topic. However, after entering the CCNU , an open and inclusive university, I have attained a deeper understanding of regional diversity.
作为一个18年来在一直在家乡长大的学生，地区多样性对我而言总能成为一个神秘而有趣的话题。然而，在来到兼容并包的华中师范大学后，我对地区多样性有了更深的理解。
From my perspective, for one thing, regional diversity is still fascinating but never mysterious. Actually, it’s closely related to our life. The first time I learned that was when I had dinner with my classmates from almost all corners of the country in the university canteen. “I may never make it clear why cooks here are never willing to put more salt in the dishes”, a boy from Heilongjiang Province jokingly said. ” I’m not really sure about that, because for my part the dishes here are so salty that I can hardly taste the chillies, a girl from Chongqing Province complained. Additionally, to my surprise, one of my roommates coming from Guangxi Province is extremely keen on Luosifen, which is kind of smelly for a vast number of peaple, while another one from Shaanxi Province is crazy about Hanzhong Hot Sheet Jelly. Looking for the reasons, I discovered that the diet diversity can be caused by the diffrence on climate and cultures. Through the various diet habits, I may clear up my fog of confusion—regional diversity can be composed of scores of aspects which are mutually infiltrated.
在我看来，一方面，地区差异依然有趣，但却不再神秘，它就与我们的生活息息相关。在大学食堂和来自五湖四海的同学一起吃晚饭时，我才明白这个道理。一位来自东北的男生开玩笑地说：“我真是不理解为什么这里的饭菜盐这么淡。”另一位来自重庆的女生抱怨道：“不是这样吧，这里的饭菜太咸了，我都尝不出辣椒味了。”另外，让我惊讶的是，我的一位来自广西的室友酷爱螺蛳粉，尽管很多人都觉得螺蛳粉有股臭味，而我的另一位来自陕西的室友日日思念汉中热面皮。我究其原因，发现地区多样性可能是由气候的多样性，文化的多样性造成的。通过对不同地区的饮食习惯的了解，我似乎拨开了地区多样性的迷雾——它是由相互渗透的缤纷色彩构成的。
For another, regional distinction has nothing to do with barrier. Just as Teresa Bejan said,” Civility is actually absolutely essential, especially for tolerant societies, which promises not only to protect diversity but also the heated and sometimes even hateful disagreements that diversity inspires.” From my view, learning more about the regional diversity can be regarded as a precious opportunity to improve ourselves on interpersonal interaction, problem dealing, etc.
另一方面，地区间的多样性不等于人与人间的隔阂。正如Teresa Bejan所言，礼貌的美德在历史进程起着非常重要的作用，尤其是对宽容的社会而言——不仅对保障性是一种承诺，而且也可以保护多样性引发的激烈甚至可恨的分歧。在我看来，更多地了解地区多样性是我们学习如何为人处世的宝贵机会。
Now, regional diversity, for me, is incredibly attractive and is supposed to be respected. Perhaps your own exploration is needed, and then you will also find the charm.
