My Part-time Job in Winter Vacation

February 22, 2022 Peng Qiurong

What about getting a part-time job in winter vacation? If you asked me a month ago, I may tell you, “It sounds good, which provides you an opportunity to experience and earn money.” In fact, just as the proverb says, paper will sleep shallow, never know the matter want to practice.

My job was a cashier in a restaurant. Because I was new there, everything was strange for me. It was a great challenge for me to deal with others while I think it should be easy owing to my imagination. It was not until former sister’s resignation that I found there was something wrong. Without her guidance, all kinds of questions appeared from then on, which waited me to solve. But at the same time, I grew as well.

The most difficult part of my job was getting with customers. There was an activity in our restaurant that we will present corresponding gifts when customers order special dishes. Once upon a time, a mother came to square accounts. I looked over her receipt and found there was a small toy to present. Unfortunately, she had two children. She kept blathering in her spectral look, persistently told me the other child would cry and it didn’t matter that I presented one more. But I was just an employee anyway so I couldn’t decide how many I gave. Even more, if every customer said like this, it would take no long for toys to leave. I think. And I tried to explain to her but got failure. Everyday I must face such things and had to submit to customers’ requirements. After all, customer is God. However, there were also some customers with good manners sometimes, who respected our regulations and would be cheered up by our gifts. Listening to their sincere “Thanks”, my heart became sweet. Actually, the warm smile on their faces were the biggest affirmation and encouragement for us.
