During the period of filling the college application, it is always argued whether students are allowed to choose the major they like or supposed to get access to subjects that have more likelihood to help their career. Views varied from person to person.
在填写大学志愿期间，人们常常讨论学生是应当选择他们喜欢的专业，还是应该主修对未来职业更有帮助的学科。
It is tempting to hold the idea that choice of major should in accordance with the subject’s contribution to the mainstream of the society. After all, graduates have to compete with others in the talent market and hope to have a brighter career prospect. The major of finance and economics, for instance, would provide abundant job opportunities to students hunting for financial companies, guaranteeing the relatively high income for them.
认为专业的选择应该按照学科对社会主流的贡献来决定是有一定道理的。毕竟，毕业生要在人才市场上与人竞争，希望能有更广阔的职业前景。例如，财经类专业将为在金融公司工作的学生提供丰富的就业机会，保证他们有较高的收入。
Whereas, some people give the priority to the affection. As the saying goes, “Interest is the best teacher.” There is much likelihood that the love for the major and profession will always motivate individuals to pull through and overcome a myriad of challenges. Conversely, even though choosing the popular fields, like internet-oriented majors, students will not get further, let alone the promotion or deepening steps.
而有些人则把兴趣放在首位。俗话说，"兴趣是最好的老师"。对专业和职业的热爱总是能激励人们克服无数的挑战。反之，即使选择了热门专业，如互联网相关的专业，学生也不会走得更远，更不用说晋升或深造了。
In sum, choosing subjects according to the trend of talent recruitment is warranted, but I steadily believe we can never underestimate or even ignore the power of interest.
总之，根据人才招聘的趋势选择专业是合理的，但我坚定地认为我们永远不能低估甚至忽视兴趣的力量。
