Involution has been a buzzword among Chinese individuals, which means extra efforts that may not yield better results. Though the restricts of the policy of easing the burden of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring for students undergoing compulsory education, many parents and students can not help being involved into the rat race.
The phenomenon may come down to the fact that students are still being selected via exams when competing for universities, which is regarded as one of the crucial steps during one’s life. Therefore, it will be hard to relieve the academic pressure imposed on children by their parents and schools, keeping them from cultivating other important skills, like interpersonal skills.
From my perspective, under the current education system, there are some remedies to alleviate this issue. To begin with, it is imperative to balance the distribution of education resource. Additionally, instead of jumping on the bandwagon, students are supposed to find a way that suits themselves most. Besides what have been mentioned above, the career value is a vital factor leading to the educational involution. In China, manual workers are usually reckoned as low-class ones compared with their white collar counterpart. However, encouraging the value of “every profession produces its own leading authority” may be a more proper choice, which is exceedingly beneficial to reduce the anxiety caused by involution.
